Today my wife and I went to a small lake to fish for a while. We mostly fished from the bank but eventually I went out in my tube. There are a ton of weeds at this lake and I don't like kicking through them. They feel creepy. My fish finder was worthless today. It was shallow and so many weeds. Anyway, I threw mostly my weedless jig into some shoreline downed trees. I caught a nice largemouth bass. He weighed about 3 lbs. My camera was on shore with my wife, so no pics. But anyway, I finally caught a fish from my tube.

yeah. Today I followed it up by going to a different lake and falling in. I was setting up my tube and slid down the boat ramp cause of the alge and slime. Got soaked. I also looked like a complete idiot.

[cool][#0000ff]Congratulations on scoring your first fish.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Commiserations on the algae slide thing. That is just one of several prerequisite things you have to survive before you can count yourself as a real tuber. You will learn to check the conditions and to relocate your launch if necessary. Either that or crouch down and keep your center of gravity low. Wet algae is just like grease.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]If we worried about what we look like when launching and beaching we would never buy float tubes. There is no way to look dignified while waddling like a duck and trying to launch a bunch of stuff that does not look like it should ever go together. [/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]But, once launched we have the last laugh. Lots of fun and more efficient fishing than bank tangling or even boating in many cases.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]You gotta learn to laugh at yourself and enjoy the humorous side of things. Either that or whimper a lot.[/#0000ff]

Dont worry about what you look like, the most
important thing is that you are ok and that you are
having fun. Once you get useto things , you will
get a lot more fish and have a great time doing it.
Im still kinda new to this float tubing (been out
about 8 times) but Im having great time and
I will NEVER go back to shore fishing.
Also do your self a favor and purchase Tubedudes
new book-its a MUST have for float tubing.

Congratulations on your 1st catch from a tube!! I remember a little over a year ago I was posting on this fantastic forum my woes of having gone out 7 straight times on my new H3 without catching a single fish! I had several strikes and a couple of hookups but never actually landed a fish! I was frustrated to no end. Well, I finally caught a few fish one day and now when I go out it is a rare occurance for me to get skunked. I absolutely love fishing from my H3. So much in fact, that I sold my ProCraft bass boat because it just sat in my garage taking up space! You will get more and more proficient at catching whatever kind of fish that you want the more you use your tube. It is an addictive form of fishing and one of the most relaxing that I have ever done. All the fine folks on this forum are so supportive and helpful! Tubin' is "the Cat's Whiskers" , IMO:o)

Take solace from Bill Dance's mishaps at the close of his TV shows. Such happens even to the best.
