Tournaments do not need to be OKed by the parks department if they have no more than a certain number of contestants and have less than $500 in prizes. It's actually 2000.00 in prize money and that is the DWR. You still have to get a permit with the Utah State Parks dept.

Any tournament requires a special use permit on Willard Bay. Call the managers office out there.

Funny you should mention that Brody because I did just that and they did not tell me anything about a special use
permit. Maybe I talked to the wrong person but I have even gone into their office and they never said a thing about it. Maybe it has something to do with the size of the event[:/].

This is indeed how it was when we set the first one up. From the looks of it, it has changed.

I was in this tourney you knew it was happening I told you curt was putting it on again.He probably did his homework and did what he had to,to make it happen again this year,It is an invitational not a secret wiper tourney,A bunch of use old timers that fished the first wiper tournaments felt like it was getting way to big and out of control.It's just some friends getting together that love to fish for the wipers that's all.and I hope I get invited next year because I will be there. Congrats to MGB & RAK for schooling use this year.Old coot & Spyder sure got on the fish as he had a heck of a nice stringer also.

Anyone on the board can put together an invitational event,The big wiper tourney was assume but the work involved was to taxing for even you Brody.Hell if you put one on I would be there in a heartbeat.You know that.

It looks to me like Brody was just stating that a special permit needed to be obtained before holding any tourneys up there. He's probably right.
