Well it rained 11 out of the 12 days we were in florida and of course the day we left it did not rain and the forecast is sunny for the next week wouldnt you know it!!They had a record 18 straight days of rain and last friday i was caught by that mini hurricane out in the ocean what a nightmare that was! Winds blowing 40-50 mph seas reaching 8-10 feet the rain falling so hard it left marks on your body!! Good thing we had gps on the boat otherwise we would be in cuba smoking a cigar with Fidel!! [laugh] We did get in 3 trips out my wife started with a 15 lb king mackeralthen a 10 lber my daughter lost one when my wifes fish cut her line thats what happens when lighter line touches heavy line. I caught one king a smoker that put me out if commission because of my back problems. So i hooked them and handed the rods over to my wife, daughter and nephews. We probably ended up with over 10lbs of fish on 3 trips. Its not like the old days when fishing was fast and furious. There is to much keeping and not enough releasing going on there.Between the commercial fishermen taking their share and the spear fishermen cleaning out all the wrecks the fishing has gone down hill the last few years.Sam always outfishes everyone on the boat when we go and she did not disappoint me this time she had all the guys giving her dirty looks because she has the ocean fishing down. We caught tuna, yellowtails, king mackeral and amberjacks.

Good to see you landed some good fish. I was in the Tamper bay area and did really well chasing Snook in shore. In my opinion Florida does a fantastic job managing their fishery.

Florida does great with its fishery but Miami is the exception. There is too many many people there who do not know what the word consevation is. The fishery in miami isnt what it used to be 5 years ago.

Those king mackerel are a blast on light tackle. Glad to see you got some tuna as well. It's too bad we don't have any fish that fight like that around here. In my book it's always worth driving at least 30 minutes out of Miami before taking a boat out to fish.

I wish we did have some fish that fight like that here but wipers are as close to an ocean fish as you are going to get. What i like about fishing right off south beach you are a couple of miles offshore and are still able to land tunas ,sails, and other pelagic fish within eyesight of the buildings.

I took my family to miami a few years back. It also rained everyday besides the last day. The ocean was calm and clear you could see the bait fish swimming around the dock and the stingrays where very close to shore i am talking like 1-2 feet off of the shore. The only fish i had on was a barracuda and that only lasted about 10 seconds if i was lucky. Good job on the catching.
