So my waters have a leak in the goretex part.
I found the leak at the seam.I did put plasti dip
from inside ( three times) let it dry ,fill the waters
with water and still leaking. So now I put some
plasti dip from the outside (three times) and the
$hit is still leaking a little. I did go about 6'' up and 6''
down the seam and abut 3''left and right of the leak.
What alse can I do ?

[cool][#0000ff]Seam leaks are tough. You can put a patch over where the water is coming through and the leak will travel up and down the seam. And the PlastiDip will fix small pinhole leaks in the fabric but does not seem/seam to do too well on seam leaks.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]If you have not tried AquaSeal, give it a shot. If that does not work, then turn your waders into expensive rain pants and buy a new pair.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]What brand of waders do you have and when did you buy them. Some models have good replacement warranties. Others only last a short amount of time and start leaking no matter how well you take care of them.[/#0000ff]

They are Cabelas waters ($ 90.00 on sale) two yearsago. Used in ocean (surf fishing)about five times
and now float tubing about 15 times.Thants it!
They did not lost very long time.
Should I try to sent it to cabelas and see what happens???

[cool][#0000ff]It is worth a try. First call the customer service department at Cabelas and explain the situation. Make them aware that you have had leaks for some time but now are unable to use the waders. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Cabelas used to have a much more lenient return policy...with no questions asked. Recently they started handing out or sending notices that they will be tightening up their return procedures. Unless you have a receipt or proof of online purchase, it may be more difficult to get a credit. But, it never hurts to call and ask.[/#0000ff]

Cabela's takes EVERYTHING back it seems. Specially if they have their name on it.
In the future, I agree with the Aqua Seal. It is the best for waders. I have sealed several small seam leaks with Aqua Seal.

Weld it?
I wasn't kidding about welding it....My buddy who is a welder welds alot of things, one time he took his washing machine apart and found the plastic part cracked. Part wouldn't get to his house in a few weeks so he had an idea. He got a coffee can top's plastic cover and cut a strip out of it and next he held the cracked part together then used a torch and heated the plastic and then filled the crack with the cutted out coffee can top to melt it with the plastic. He said it worked like he was welding any steel and it held on and still going strong over six month.... That made me wonder if the waders can do? I don' think doing the coffee can top but heating (with the soldering gun if you have one) to melt it back?

[cool][#0000ff]That is not as wacky as it might sound. Many new items are being made by welding seams with ultrasound waves...which instantly raise the heat enough to melt and fuse the parts together.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]The big consideration with waders would be the composition of the materials. Some nylon fabrics tend to shrink and disappear when heated beyond their natural solid state. Some are so slick that almost nothing will stick to them.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]But, I have heard of someone using a hot melt glue gun to make a temporary repair on a wader seam that held up throughout a couple of days on the water. Haven't tried it myself...but I heard tell. I suppose you would have to be sure you weren't wearing them when you applied hot melt glue to the crotch seam. OUCH.[/#0000ff]

Thank you for your replyes guys.I think Im going to try
the cabelas exchange/credit deal and see what happens.
Worst comes to worst , they wont do anything for me.
Then I just have to get new waters.
