Back to the waders.
I wish to thank all for their input in the last few discussions of the pros and cons of leaking waders.
As I type, I am awaiting a call from Cabelas as to the availability of Simms G3 Gore Tex Chest waders.
I am in hopes this will be the end of the leaking waders saga for me.
Without the input from the helpfull folks on this site, my decission would have taken much longer.
10" of swamp water in the left leg of my Cabelas 1 month old waders last night when I came off the water didn't do anything to delay my decission either. lol

It's not that cold where we are in Illinois. I went out yesturday Sunday morning in my jeans and it was nice!
Fishing wasn't great in one pond, no bass caught only those little gills.
Hopped over to another big pond, thought it was a great looking spot only to find it a shallow lake....two feet deep all over and not a fish caught. Too many big snapping turtles! I had to get out of there!

Yeah man, watch out for those snapping turtles.
They can really mess you up!
In reservoirs around me people put all kinda
fish/turtles. Its worm here (so cal) so they live just fine.
Kinda funny if you catch tropical fish in a lake here or
african cichlid or something like that.

The waders exchange went very well. They had a gift card for full purchase price within 5 minutes.
There was actually a 1/4" on on the outside leg seam that the machine took a hic-cup on and 1/2" on the other leg.
The Simms G3 gore-tex waders were waiting in the area with my name on them.
These are the convertable chest waders, that can be used as pants or chest. I THINK the waist will be high enough for the Fat Cat float tube without unzipping the chest part. Carefull testing will be done on this issue of course..
I sat for quite some time checking every inch of seam I could find.
The fit-- These waders fit much better than any I have tried. Deep knee bends, and low sitting position will not be a problem . I couldn't detect any crowding in any area.
I was somewhat supprised to see that they are made in the USA[

I'm looking forward to getting the OUTSIDE of them wet. ole giller

That USA thing is nice. Their shoes however aren't.
They are the top of the line next to the G4's so I think they are a better fit and as far as made...depends on what day of the week LOL But that goes for anything.

I got out yesterday for the first time with my new Simms Gore Tex convertable waders. What a positive experiance!!!!!
These waders have a zipper that releases the chest portion of the waders. I was pleasently supprised that I had no need to unzip it at all. The waders are plenty high enough for keeping the water at bay.
I spent 6 hrs. on the water at 91 degrees and high humidity. I was comfortable the whole time.
I done lots of pondering before getting these.
I though the price was too high. I'm now thinking these could be the most reasonable waders I have owned.
Time will tell of course. Illinoisgiller

Just remember.....NO COTTON under clothing![

Here we go again, (Sigh) lol
When I go float tubing, My fashion statement is normally a little on the conservative side. An old pair of bluejean shorts and a pair of short ankle socks to go with a very worn t shirt normally rounds out my clothing. lol
I'm not seeing anything in that line up that doesn't contain cotton.
I do own a pair of silk socks that I got to use with boot foot winter neoprene waders, but haven't tried them yet.
Do you or your hubby have suggestions that are working out well for him in the waders he wears often?
(Your mention of him wearing his in the sprinkler business greatly influenced my decission . )
Your input is always appreciated. Illinoisgiller

NO COTTON under clothing
I love cottons and can't stand anything else....I gotta ask why on that part. I felt it holds and stores all the sweat?

(quote) "I felt it holds and stores all the sweat? "
That is why. It HOLDS the sweat. It doesn't wick it away. You will feel as though your waders are leaking!
What to wear:
Scrubs, light weight, cheap and NOT COTTON. Jogging pants are nylon (which, you ever wonder why Jogging cloths aren't cotton?!) There is allot of inexpensive alternatives. Shirts, not so much. They do make wading socks also that don't contain cotton, but synthetics or wool.

NO COTTON is the only way to float.Try to use cotton
and no cotton and you WILL see.[
