This is stage 1 of my fly rod holder.
it will handle 3 rods plus one in hand = 4 rods on me total.
rods will be on a little angle up so I can clear
back cast no problem and at the same time clear
bank landing.
fly reels will facing up and a little angle to the side.
Next thing is to istall it on the float tube and make it
nice and safe.
More pictures coming later if you want.
More details by PM only.(too many people just
looking and not contributing[:/]).

I like the design.

Nicely done. What was the thinking behind U-bolts as opposed to multiple PVC connectors? Were you just trying to keep it more compact or lighter, or is there another reason?

I would recomend a velcro strap across the end to hold the rods in when a breeze comes up I have ahd my fly rods fall out so now i strap them in. I was thankfull the one was glass and floated otherwise it would have been bye bye.

Cool, but I want to hear how it will work. I see a few things I would have done different, but I will wait and see if you have any problems with this.

U bolts-more compact and if I want to replace a holder
for whatever reason it will make it easy.

Please share sister. I welcome your input.

I can only speak from my experience. First off, I agree with Idaho about the velcro, but also, a cut a section for the reels to drop to the side like on the Scotty:

This way, the rod and reel are locked.

Now assuming you are taking all the rods out ready to go meaning strung up with a fly on,
I have never been able to have multiple rods sticking straight out in the same direction that close together without the tips getting tangled.
You have to put a slight bow in the rods to keep the fly secure in the hook keep.
Add to that a breeze or wind with at least 8' rod...the tips are going to meet somewhere, sometime.
But, as I said, that is me...we will see if this works for you.

You do have a point there sister about those rod tips.
I just have to try it and see what happens. It is a working
project.I will let you know.
Thank you for the input.

[inline "IMG_3802 (Small).JPG"]I have ine mounted on the opposite side that I cast on and have themangled more up that out away from my toon, bt I have also not made the holder ridged. In ohter words the holder will also pivot so that the rods can be offset from each other as well

I see that you mean Michael.
the rod holders on mine are moveble.
So if I run into problem with rod tips ,I do have a room
to move them up or down .
Thank you for the picture and info.

Ok sis, this is what Im thinking. I will reinstal the rod holders .Holder #1 straight.
Holder #2 little angle to the side (outside)
Holder #3 even more angle.
That would geve it about 12 incher space betwen
rod tips.
Do you think that would work?

Fanning is a good answer. Have you tried what you have?

I have tried just putting the rods in holder and moving it
side to side and I can see the problem with the rod tips
so close.
So I want to fix it before I take it out on the water.
Thanx god I made the rod holder removeble............
Thank you for your input sister you saved me some
trouble first time out with it.

Peter.
