I took Bartman up to Jordanelle this morning hoping to get him into some nice smallmouth. Today it just didnt happen very well. I went to my hotspots and couldn't even get a bite. Fished down the bank and would get a hit here and there and finally got a dink smallie in the boat... Fished the dropshot with wacky rigged senko and also with gulp minnow. Got hits with both and even boated about 6 bass or so... I got one on that was pretty big but went straight under the boat and came unhooked. Bartman got a couple today and learned how to tie a dropshot hook on. He is learning the different techniques one at a time. I got several hits on bass assassin fluke topwater, never did hook one. They were dinks. I could see them come out and hit my fluke but no hookups..
I even texas rigged for awhile and nothing. Bad day for fishing today.... Donated lots of dropshot rigs today to the lake. Saw a dead brown trout about 3 lbs floating and had a line with sinker still attached coming out of its throat.

Cold front shut them down some today.. We got on the water just after daylight and left around 2:30..

Thanks for the company Bartman

Are you sure it wasn't the moon phase? [:p] When I was up there Saturday and Sunday during the downpour and soaking wet I found the bass on the steep cliffs where there was even the slightest bit of structure change along the immediate shoreline. I was using a dropshot and they were very tight to the brush or floating sticks next to the shoreline. I would flip it out and let it deadstick as shallow as I could.
I know I used to donate more hooks to Jordanelle than I could keep track of. I started using the Owner Down Shot Offset hooks and I was able to fish the junk like I wanted to. I won't lie, it does take away some of the action of what you are using but it hasn't seemed to be a problem so far. I can't wait to get back up there! Thanks for the report and I hope your next trip is better.

sounds like you need to jump in my boat with me and get that skunk that has been sticking to you off your back... Do you fish from boat or bank??
