My brother went up there 2 weeks ago, and he went during the week not the weekend. He said they were letting water out of the spillway so it was not as good fishing as usual. How long do they keep letting water out? I really like fishing up against the spillway for the catfish.
He also said on the weekends they stop letting it out for the fishermen that come on the weekend. Wish we were going on the weekend. Ugh...
How we do good, if anyone has been there recently please let me know.

I fished it the second week in July last year and I will be up there about the same time this year. The catfishing was really good against the spillway. We also found a nice cat hole near the boatramp at McCormick Park.
Sorry don't have any current information. I hope they aren't letting water over the spillway when I am there.

Are you talking about the one where the creek enters just below the boat ramp or a little further up closer to the boat ramp? I hope that makes sense.

I did better in the hole just off of the boat ramp. I did catch a few by the creek also.

Yep, the last time I went on Labor Day 08, I did walk out into the water and catch some nice big cats out of the creek hole. I will try the one higher up closer to the boat ramp tomorrow. Can't wait.

They aren't letting water out of the spillway right now. They quit this on Tuesday June 23. So we saw the catfish but it was hard getting them to bite. Maybe they were all just starting to congregate back at the spillway. It was so cool to see big catfish swimming at the top of water in groups.
We found the catfish bit best on worms. They weren't interested in cut bait. So we ended up going crappie fishing, OMG that was fun. I had never done that before and we had only 1 lite pole with 4lb test. So we had to share that pole back and forth. I found any of the plastic jigs, any color worked all the same. I want to do that again. They are good eating to.
Of course I had to fish the hole at McCormick Park, sure enough, first cast, bam a 19 1/2 cat, wow. Then the next to casts 2 more cats.
