After reading Old Coot's post about Willard, I decided to make my maiden voyage out there. With this being my first week actually living in Utah, I have never even seen the lake before but printed one of Tube Dude's maps and decided to give it a try. Got there about 7:00 and went out of the South Marina. Trolled Rat-L-Traps and Rapalas for about three hours without so much as a nibble. Marked a lot of fish along the north dike, but couldn't hook anything up. Didn't realize the bugs were as bad as they were, and got frustrated with them biting and the fish not, and decided to call it a day at Willard. Hopefully I can learn more in the future.
Decided to run up to Mantua (had a great day there last year) to try to get rid of the day skunk. Wind was pretty rough out there and the water was much more stained than last year. Couldn't find the pockets in the weeds and if I did, the wind pushed me off before I got the anchor out. So needless to say, only spent minimal time there with nothing to show for it. So as I said in the subject, I finished 0 for 2. Rough day to be me. But still nice to be on the water in a place with so many great lakes. Just hope for better luck next time.
