My name, as you can see, is FishingBoarder. I have to admit, I'm more of a wakeboarder than angler. I can count on no hands how many times my dad took me fishing. My older brother took me once. We fished in this large (50-75' across) canal. We got skunked. So, not big on fishing myself.

My son loves wakeboarding, but is also VERY interested in fishing. We vacation at Lake Powell a week or two every summer. We catch Stripers, Catfish, and Smallmouth Bass. Quite fun! Sripers and Smallmouth come from chasing boils. The catfish are usually caught off the back of the house boat at night or during slow times during the day.

I live close to Willard Bay in Utah. My son is always interested in fishing, especially if the weather isn't ideal for wakeboarding. So, we're trying out wiper fishing at Willard Bay this year.

So far we've been skunked. I put a trolling plate on my Cobalt so we can troll now, he didn't like that much. Hopefully, we'll hook a Wiper trolling. That will cure the boredom quick!

So, I joined the site to get advice from other anglers on how to get the Wipers. Sounds like I need to invest in some Planar Boards. A fish finder wouldn't hurt, I just need to find a good place to mount the monitor.

Anyway, probably won't hear much from me. Mainly just gathering information. Thanks for all the information the site provides.

Welcome to the site SScott, you joined at a good time, lots of good information on Willard right now. I see you have already found the Utah board, but I'll give you a link to the Willard archives, years of good info there. Good luck, I'm sure your son will catch that first Wiper soon. WH2
