[#800000]Finally, I made it up to Porcupine. My neighbor and I got on the water about 9 AM. It was like glass and there was not a cloud to be seen anywhere. The air temperature was around 70 and the water temperature was about 63.[/#800000]

[#800000]We started fishing with Rapalas on the surface and RMT dodgers with a squid and a spotted Curley’s Lure at about 20 feet down. Fish on in less than 10 minutes – Tom’s very first kokanee ever out of Porcupine, a very nice 13 incher. About 15 minutes later I put one in the boat. Good start to a great day.[/#800000]
[#800000] [/#800000]
[#800000]Packfan showed up around 10 to 11 AM. Said ‘Hello’ in passing as we trolled by them. They were catching some as well. I hope your out of town guests had as good a time as we did.[/#800000]
[#800000] [/#800000]
[#800000]It came and went throughout the day and we ended up catching 16 fish – all kokanees. We only lost 3 at the boat, so we ended up with 13 in the live well. The browns that Porcupine is noted for did not want to play at all. We finally quit around 3 PM and headed home. My bride and I cooked 2 of the catch for supper last night. Way better than trout. The others were put in storage for some smoking in a couple of weeks. I’m betting those will be even better to eat.[/#800000]

Way to go Bob, nice to see you were able to put a little hurt'in on them Kokes. I hope to be up there soon for some of that action.

Wow nice work fellas, I am getting hungry looking at those beautiful fish. Congrats and thanks for the report[Smile]

Nice report and pictures Bob, thanks for sharing. Did you guys launch in the back? Did you try fishing deeper than 20ft? Last year we caught a few browns there but we were trolling 40 to 60ft deep.

Great report!! Glad you guys got into the little bullets.
Great pic of your buddy with his first koke.[cool]

I had one line at 60, another stacked at 50 and a third on the other side at 35. We never had a hit below the 50 foot mark all day. And no trout were caught either. But it sure was nice getting those kokes. [cool][/#800000]

Great pic of your buddy with his first koke.[cool]
[#800000]And wouldn't you know it - he caught it on one of your 3/16 ounce spot series white/red lures. I'll be picking up a couple more from Max - soon. [cool][/#800000]

So where did you launch?
[signature]
Nice report. Sounds awesome. Was there one depth better than another? Using downriggers? What was best lure? I have only caught a couple at the gorge but they are great eating.
So where did you launch?
[#800000]We launched at the ravine in the middle; not the open area towards the rear.[/#800000]

[#800000]
Was there one depth better than another?
The most hits for us came at 35 feet.[/#800000]
[#800000][/#800000]
[#800000]
Using downriggers?
Oh yea![/#800000]
[#800000][/#800000]
[#800000]
What was best lure?
If I told you, I'd have to kill you. [angelic][/#800000]
[#800000][/#800000]
[#800000]Actually, we caught them on several different lures - Curley's Lures (spotted white/red), pink & white squid w/ RMT dodger, and a spin-n-glow w/ an RMT dodger.[/#800000]

I do appreciate the honesty. I have to find a way to get deep I guess. I am without downriggers on my boat?!? Thanks again.

Pick up a couple of Dipsy Divers! Po mans rigger!
[signature]
You could also use lead core line. When I fish for kokes, I always use lead core line, even when I'm using down riggers. To get your line down deeper without spending a lot of money you can always use snap weights too but there is a limit on how deep you can go with that method. WH2

Nice Report. Can I just say this type of report and conversation is why I come back to this board! Thanks!

I havent been up there for YEARS, but is it possible to get a camping trailer up there?

No problem I've seen them bring 18 wheelers in there, Weds. there was a large 10 wheel dump truck that brought a load in. Camping at the back by the spring can be a little tricky if there are many people there. They have blocked the trees off near the road on the North side of road to keep campers from camping there. I'm not sure if you can get in to camp on the back side of the little spring that comes in or not seems like that little dead end road may still be open. I see camps set up below the dam on the road in. Alot of that is private I think so I'm not sure how that works. It use to be a beautiful place to camp years ago until it got over ran with the public and they started trashing the place, now it is just a day trip for us. When I was still in the military we use to camp there almost every weekend in the summer.
