We decided to go up to Rockport, at the water about 7:00 am fished the first hour and a half by the inlet were the old hiway goes in to the lake no bites. we then moved over to the Pinery Day use area and set up. There I got my first smallie we fied there until about noon and caught a total of three smallies then went up to the end of the road and fished a while longer saw a couple caught from a boat. then we went down below the dam for a while and got no more bites. At least we didn't get skunked.

Good Report! What did you guys use?

I went and fished it for the first time last night. Caught a gazillion rats, the biggest was about 10-11". Reminded me of Deer Creek. Most of the fish were on 3 and 4 inch weightless senkos.
Did twist my ankle and fell on a cactus for my trouble. I'm still picking out the barbs today.

I am so new to bass fishing I don't know what all this stuff is called It was some kind of plastic worm with a funny looking curly tail on it, on some fancy red funny looking hook, I think the color was called pumpkin. also a short black fat plastic thing with 2 curly tails.

Sorry about the cactus, i did that too once lol. what color senko is the best?

I used 3 different colors with equal success, all of the colors were dark.
I was just casting them out about 15 feet and letting them fall with an occasional twitch. they were "wacky" rigged with a drop shot hook. Wacky rigged just means that the hook goes smack dab in the middle of the senko.

So is a senko a brand of lure or a type of lure??

Many companies make "senkos" but I think the yamamoto baits are the only ones actually called a senko. They are a heavy and thick worm basically, that has a unique "fall" to them.

Ok I have some of those type things in my gear. I thought they called them stick baits. I guess I will have to figure out how to use them. This can be so confusing.
Thanks markeli
