Hey, I went up to ririe on Saturday to test out the new boat and try my luck at some of those smallies. I only got to fish an hour or so and didn't get even a little touch. My wife and I were fishing lead head pumpicen color tubes and twirly tail worms in the weeds and willows in the PM on the west side across from juniper. Anyone have some advise. Ririe is a big place and I don't really know where to start. I figured with the water warming and the spawn being about done the fish will move to rocky points and any other structure. I could really use a point on the right direction for this Saturday.

Welcome to the site...around this time last year my wife and I were sight fishing from the boat using worms...couldn't keep the bass off the hook. I know that it's not as much challenge as using lures but still it was fun. We were pretty much in the same area that you two were fishing.

We went a couple of days ago in that same area. We fished the evening hours and caught 26 between 4 of us. We were using wacky rigged senkos in baby bass. We also caught some on Maniac worms with a chartruse tail texas rigged. I caught mine on pumpkin reaper drop shot style.
It seems like you still have to fish really slow and we found that the bass are moving into the rocks.

I fished Ririe tonight from the bank around the boat dock area. I walked up and down the side where the rocks are and finished off at the boat dock. I only caught 3 smallmouth in about 2 1/2 hours of fishing. One on a worm and 2 on spinners. All were under 10 inches. I'm thinking it might be a bit too early to have the bass really hitting hard. I also need to get on a boat out there, bank fishing gets kind of old.

I think the smallmouth are getting lots of pressure. I caught 10 or 12 in 3-4 hours in my pontoon boat last thursday. Most has someones hook in them or fresh scars in the mouth, I was a little suprized at that.
