On the way up to Strawberry last weekend we couldn't help but notice all the road kills. we saw moose, elk, and lots of deer. Down in Heber City turkey vultures were righting on the roof tops of some of the buildings. I wonder if the california condor folks whom managed to get lead ammunition banned in the southern half of the state ever though about how many animals get killed at the road side scooping on those carcasses.
Instead of worrying about a big dumb bird eating a bullet and dying would it not be more productive to gather those carcasses up and haul them to different areas and spread them out some so the birds can eat safely away from the road and its deadly traffic? Most of the road kill close to town. Highway 89 for example has most of its road kill waste away and not get eaten. I say take those things out and put them where they can be eaten. I bet that would take some of the pressure off the animals that are out there being chased by coyotes and bears. Just a thought.
