I have salted minnows before and well I had shiners left over so I salted them. I am not sure if they will work well or not but I am going to find out.
Everyone seems to have a complicated process that works for them salting their bait fish. I got an easy one. Let them die in the bucket take them and put them into a bag of kosher salt and shake them up to cover them really well. Then lay them out on newspaper and roll them up in a few pages of the daily newspaper. Let them sit overnight and then put them in more salt next day before you go to bed and change the newspaper. So far so good and we will see if they turn out. I think in all honesty I could have bagged them in salt and it would not have mattered. I had a process where I hung up a grocery bag with small holes overnight and then I covered them in salt then I hung them in a bag inside a mason jar and collected the juices then I rolled them in more salt and then I used newspaper to dry them further and then I would throw them the next day in a bag of salt and they would be preserved.
