Picked Hunter up at Smith and Edwards at 0455 this morning and headed to the South Marina. Thankfully someone flashed us down to let us know that the gate was locked (avoided an 80-point turn around like they had to do) so we headed to the North Marina and guess what? That stupid gate was locked as well. Doesn't Cliff have the keys to all these gates (i.e Jordanelle @ 0300)? HAHAHAHA[:p][Wink] Whats the deal with this? Gates open at 0600, wasnt it 0500 last year? My Dad and I went through last Sunday at 0500 what gives? Anyhow, finally got on the water around 0600 and noticed boils around 0700. Couldnt get up to them in time the cast into them and catch any. Anyhow, long story short we ended the day with 2 Wipers and 2 Cat's!!! Did I mention I hate wakeboarders and skiiers[mad] They have that whole lake and they decide to go along the dike??? It should be a NO WAKE from the dike to 250 yards out!!!!

Sounds like you had a good day.

We hit Willard from about 12:30 until 4:00. Only had one fish, if fought like heck so I tightend my drag, got it up to the boat (looked like a monster) then it broke my line.

I am new to wiper fishing, I had 10 lb test on, what do you use? Also, how fast do you troll?

[cool][#0000ff]Most state parks post their hours of operation. But, they usually do not lock the gates at night on weekdays. I have fished many state parks at early hours during the week with no problems. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Maybe they are just picking on you. But wait. You went on the weekend. Mystery solved.[/#0000ff]

yea ive noticed that about the skiers there too. NO ONE in the middle of the lake, yet they have to go RIGHT by the fishermen. Think they do it to piss us off.

I have suggested to the Parks peoples that they put scanners on the gates so that folks with passes can scan themselves in. A computer would record who you are if they need to check on damage or such. So far it has fallen on deaf ears and the fisherman have to deal with bankers hours. That extra 1.5 hours can make a real difference when you have all the power boats to deal with.

Regarding them, they have this thing about going close to the shore line. If they are closer than 150 ft. they are breaking the law. If they go by you closer than 150 ft. they are breaking the law. Call or radio the ranger or sheriff and report them . If you can take a picture of their boat and get a clear image of their numbers, they are to close. If you are in a toon or tube, they are required to power down when they pass you as you are an unpowered craft.

By the way, how does Cliff rate keys to the gates, that seems a bit odd. I have been very good friends with several rangers over the years and they have never been willing to give me a key.
He was just teasing Cliff, he doesn't have a key.

Just returned from Rockport and there was a ski boat pulling a skier and he came between me and the shore on the west side of the lake, [mad] I seen him coming for me again, I know he was out to piss off the fishing boaters so I got my camera and took a photo of his outfit, I then reeled in the lines and chased him down, told him I had his photo and boat #, the 4 kids were about 19 years of age and cocky as hell, I went to the ranger and we down loaded the photo and he wrote a citation out for recklessness, and not maintaining 150 feet (state law) I will see this jerk in court, my wife and kids as a witness, if this is what it takes to get the skiers to understand then so be it.

Geat Job Coach!!! I will do the same next time. I think the guys at Willard yesterday were maintaining their 150' rule, but still, gimme a break, go out to the middle and do that crap you know what I mean?

im going to buy a jet ski instead of a 4 wheeler and wait with truck running down the block from the house and follow you discretley. once you get to where your going, im going to launch an hour or so after you then relentlessly buzz you non stop!

and dont forget, i know how to shoot back too!

Thats some funny stuff there??? I wont shoot, I will just put my life vest on, jump off the back of the boat and pull the plug on the SOB and let her go to the bottom. You forget that the boat I use IS YOURS!!!!!![Wink][:p]

At starvation i have a gun i carry ( leagally) but i was about to pull it and shoot into the air because come jerk kept buzzing me and my wife in our fouteen foot alum. I also was at willard and agree utah boaters have no respect. To Army boy we all have been trained to shoot since we were kids but i'll take you up on a shooting challange if you will take me up on a walleye challange.

Careful about pulling the gun out, it can get you in a little bit of trouble. I like the photo and calling on the radio idea. But I think I need a little bit more. Anyone have surface to surface missiles?[Wink]

Got an idea, anyone know of a pic a part that has an old PWC or boat that is rotten? Pick it up, take it to the range and use it for target practice then donate it to the Utah State Parks to use as a teaching aid.[Wink][Wink][Wink]

I think all of us moderators know you guys are brothers but we always worry about members that don't know you guys and take your post to each other, the wrong way. How long is your tour going to be this time[:/]?

If I remember correctly the gate at the North Marina would open automatic at 5:37am . I use to prep my boat while I waited . Not sure if it is that way this year . Earliest I have ever been is 7:30am this year . Fishing is always better for me with waves so bring on the jet skis , I hate flat water fishing on Willard . Sounds like you need to change lures or location if that is all you caught .[Wink]
[signature]
Good for you.
I appreciate everyones needs to have fun but it does seem the skiers do what they can to piss off fisherman that are usually very close to shore.
