So I headed down to Bryce Canyon area for the first and was looking to do some fishing. I am not really familar with the area so I was wondering if anyone had advice as to where to go and what to use? I have heard of a place called Otter Creek and Tropic that I was thinking about going too. Any advice as to what to use there? I will have a boat and float tube with me.

It really depends on how far you are willing to travel. My choice would be Tropic reservoir as it is just 20 mins. away and gives you the possibility of some larger fish. Pine Lake is pretty, but has a lot of small planters. The best fishing would be at Panguitch, Otter Creek, and Paiute, which all have large trout, but are a considerable drive away. You might consider the Sevier and E. Fork of the Sevier if you like to stream fish. I can't recommend a specific lure for a lake, as standard lures seem to catch trout anywhere you fish.

I recommend that you leave the fishing rods at home and bring your best hiking boots instead. (did I really say that?)
Bryce is beautiful and consuming, but there really is no good public fishing nearby. So do Bryce.

You can also take the johns valley rd which cuts off hwy 12 near the bryce canyon rd off hwy 12. It will shoot you over to otter creek/ sevier river area ( arround 40 miles) It's a well maintained gavel rd you can travel at 40-50 miles per hour no problem. If your not sure where it is, ask them at Ruby's inn , It's real close by.

Isn't Navajo close to there? I caught the heck out of them from the dike last weekend. All on pb though. Werent really going for lures. I tried float tubin for a couple hours with nothing :[

Panguitch Lake is close by, just up 89 to the town of Panguitch, then west toward Cedar City. Check the reports or check in town for conditions.

It's paved the whole way -- been paved for years. You can do 80mph on it if you want...

Bryce Canyon sits at the doorstep of the Boulder Mountains. There are a number of good fisheries close by. Pine Lake is better than most give it credit for. There are some nice trout in there, especially considering the relatively good water years it's had recently.

Otter Creek is always a good bet, and only 40 minutes from Ruby's.

Good to hear it's paved. I used to travel that rd often on my way back to price from st. george (late 70's early 80's) It was only gravel then. I use to love to hit a few fishing holes on my way home through out that area, then over in the loa area.
