I was excited to hear that a new fresh seafood market had opened up in Layton, so i went to see what they had to offer.

I was not disappointed!

There was in the neighborhood of 15-20 different types of fresh fish. Some of the ones I saw were sushi grade #1 Tuna, fresh whole salmon, sailfish, opah, rockfish, halibut, sturgeon, white tuna, petrale sole, swordfish and a bunch of others that I can remember.

The guy told me that he has been supplying many of the sushi restaurants along the Wastach Front on a wholesale basis for many years and he decided to open a retail shop where the average guy (like me!) could have access to the freshest most premium seafood products available. His background was as a purchasing manager for the Gastronomy restaurants (Market street grill etc...)He goes to the airport 4 or 5 times a week to pick up his shipments from Hawaii, Alaska, West Coast etc...

The prices weren't unreasonable either. I've certainly paid more for fresh fish in markets right on the coast before. I really hope that word travels fast and this small fish market makes it. I am thrilled to have a local source for awesome seafood. It doesn't get any better than that.

The address of the market is:
45 East Gentile street in Layton.

It is called Coast "2" Coast seafood market. The owners' name was Jim and he seemed super knowledgeable about his product and treated me like I was his best customer. I'll be back many times for sure.

Do they have walleye or perch?

I didn't see any of that. It was saltwater fishes from what I could see. I bet if he got asked for it a few time though he would bring it in from the great lakes region.

I have Known the owner Jim for 20 years. He worked dfor man y years like you said with Market street grill and through the gastroniomy stores. He knows his stuff. I know that he will try and get you anything that you want. He orders on Tuesdays and Fridays to ensure fresh fish all the time.

I just finished eating some crab cakes that he had there and they were WONDERFUL!

Also picked up some shrimp for this weekend. Tasted the shrimp that he had there that were cooked and they are great.

Rest assured he will give you a 100 % money back Guarentee if your not happy with your fish. Take the time to go see what he has and what he can get. You will not be disapointed.

I'm a huge sushi fan, gonna have to check this place out. The only things I truly miss about California is the ocean and the seafood.
