My wife and I are headed for Stanley for four days starting 7/17. I have never caught a Mackinaw, (although I have tried at Stanley and Warm Lake).

If anyone is familiar with fishing for Macks at Stanley could you please help me out.

+I can't find a depth chart for the lake on the net.

+We don't have a depth finder or downriggers. :-(

Thanks in advance!

There aren't any depth charts that I know of. I think you are in trouble without at least a depth locator. The area where the macs are is quite "technical", i.e., distinct variations in depth. If you were to fish deep enough, you would be losing lots of equipment. Mike

Yeah, I may just focus on Stanley one morning and spend the rest of the time in the Salmon and the upper lakes. I will post a report when we get back.

You might try jigging. Use a piece of sucker meat or squawfish, or a full nightcrawler on a large metal jig. Keep it a foot off the bottom. Fish the southern edge on the half of the lake closest to the ramp. It shallows up on the east side. Mike
