Well i did 2 things I have wanted to do for a while now. First I caught my first King Salmon!!! Second i got to meet Chrome Junky (unknowingly).
I will start with the salmon. We left my granpas at around 8 am. we decided to pull the trailor up and it was a long ride we finaly made it to the ellis hole at 2pm. we set up camp and rushed over to find a spot on the shore. The top end was all full so i ended up fishing by the lower cottonwood tree. i fished for a couple hours with nothing. then my money hole opened up. For those of you that fish this hole its the one with the big flat rock that during steelhead season is just perfect for a chair. well the water is to high for the chair but that was ok by me. i hadnt been there more than 30 minutes and bam fish on. Like the others have said those chinnook fight!!! I probly fought him for 10 minutes while yelling for my uncle to bring the net. someone above me finaly brought one and netted it. I never did weight this one but it was a good 32 inch male. so still high on my first king i hit the water again and maybe 15-30 minutes later I hit another one. This one pulled like a mule at one point i couldnt even get him to move. so again the ppl above me bring there net and land it for me. so i pull my second king in!!!! Now here is were it gets even better i turn to hand the guy back his net and there stand chrome junky i didnt know this at the time. So i thanked him tagged my fish and went and sat by my uncle and talked to chrome and his friends. I wasnt sure it was him so i didnt ask him. I noticed that his report said they were using 15 lb test and that gave it away. so Hi chorme sorry we didnt get a better greeting, but it was nice to get to talk with you and your buddies a while.
monday we woke up at 5 but the upper end had already filled up but my money hole was still open so i hit it again. I hooked into 9 total that day but only landed 2 both were hens about 31 inches long one weighed 10 and one of them weighed 13!! I had alot of them right to the bank but couldnt get them into the net, had one guy cast over me and jerk my line not knowing there was a fish there.... then had one pop the hook in my face. After my second I was helping grandpa unhook a snag, i was about knee deep in the water when i hear this crashing i look up and some guy dropped his whole cooler of beer right off the road, there was beer spraying everywere. I am probly lucky i wasnt sitting were i had been they probly would of beat me up good.
tuesday we woke up a bit later around 6 and got down there and had to squeeze in at the bottom cottonwood tree. I realy didnt have much hope back there but on my 5th cast i hooked into one, it came loose a short time later. but i did manage a 25 inch jack that i had to tag. i hooked into 3 more but didnt get any in. i had a monster on that i probly would of been close to 20 lb though. about 11 we headed home. we went threw may and up to howel and stopped at the little warm water spring by the mouth of the summit creek campground for those of you that havnt seen this its a must. there are tropical fish swimming around in there!!!! I had heard of this but never realy believed it. Rumor says ppl let there fish from home go in there. We had a awsome trip Grandpa and my uncle each caught 2 and i ended with 5. We got into some great fish the weather was fairly cool, and got to meet a fellow bfter so cant ask for much more.
I forgot the camera again so i only have pictures of my fish in the cooler and on the grass. The fish in the middle was 34 1/2 inches and weighed 14 that was my biggest. The fish are a bit beat up after being in a cooler for a couple days.
