I went up there once and we did well throwing out weightless senkos and also 7 and 10 inch powerworms (texas rigged) into the weeds. During the early morning and evening hours in low light we both were using Arbogast Jitterbugs in black and were nailing em.

[indent]Spent the past weekend up there with 10 kids, their families and volunteers for our Junior Bassmasters. All three ponds were used Haymeadow, Cold Springs and Adams Mcgill.

In all over two days we weighed nearly 100 fish for 91.07 lbs.

We let the younger kids fish Adams Mcgill and used the 10" size. The average 5 fish limit weighed 5lbs with the big fish over two days comming in at 2.66. Throw anything on this lake and they will eat it but the frog bite was a blast.

The older kids fished Haymeadow on Saturday and Cold Springs on Sunday. Most fish on these two measured 12" to 13" with the average limit being just over 6lbs. Senko's flipped to the tules in black and blue and the ocassional frogs and spinnerbait fish.

The fish are targeting the Black and Blue Dragon flies. Saw people on shore with a butterfly net catching dragonflies than catching fish on them

Hey 2na
I am headed to Willow next Wednesday for a nightime fishing experience. Which direction is MM 52 from the boat launch and are there any signs or markers for MM52. Also forgive my ignorance but what do you mean by throwing the big wood. I take all the advice I can get.
Thanks

Im sure he means a big plug lure when he says throwing the big wood.

[cool]I believe mile marker 52 is down stream of willow beach. Throw large plug lures like A/C plugs, big rapalas,or big bomber long A's all in rainbow trout patterns. I've also thrown large silver spoons like krocodiles that got hit. Good luck. I hope to go down there soon.

Ive been thinking of making a trip down there soon... I really want to pull on a 40 lb striper from the kayak. If I could only get my mind off bass for a minute...

The other replys got it right, "Big wood" refers to any of the Large jointed wooden plugs eg... AC plugs, AC Minnows, Rapalas, Castaic baits etc...

I like to throw the 12' sized AC's with a calstar 540 cut down to 9' and 25 pound mono from the center of the river out towards the banks.

Mile 52 is downstream from the marina

Whizz do you think a 40lb on a kayak would pull you around ? Sorry to hijack thread. Would that equal out to 40lbs of thrust tuggin you where he pleases?

Ive never hooked anything that big from a kayak, but Ive been towed around by stripers less than 10 lbs. I can imagine I would have a bit of a ride out of a 40 lber.
