I know there has been some discussion on this before, but has anybody successfully put a storage bin behind the seat? Do you have any details as far as what you used (size, brand, where you bought it, etc.)? Does it stay put when water starts rushing in?

I use to haul (when I float tubed) a plastic ammo box that fit great back there. It had a hinged lid and was waterproof, but water never go that high.
I mean the water stayed on the bottom, The ammo box was about 12" tall.
Help a light jacket and a pump, still room behind that for the life vest.

Thanks for the suggestion, Flygoddess... Not a bad idea, I was picturing something that fit snugly so the water wouldn't rise above it and it wouldn't tip over, but I guess neither of those matter if the box is waterproof. And like you said, the ammo box is tall enough that the water would never get that high anyway.

I will need to carry weigh-in paraphernalia and maybe a camcorder for our tournament this weekend. Lugging around some extra stuff, so I need to make use of that storage space.

Gotcha. I will say that the WATERPROOF duffels I have got work if it is raining or they fall in water but they do eventually leak if you leave them submerged. I tried several and this was the case with all I tried.
I ended up putting a MESH shelf over the back of my tube (SFC) and bungied a waterproof bag to the top.

I just know that at Sport Chalet in diving section they
have some very nice waterproof boxes for electronics
and stuff that you dont want to get wet. They are in diff sizes as well.
I have a small one in my tube for walet ,camera, cellphone and stuff like that (just in case). It workes
great.

[cool][#0000ff]Here is a picture posted by another member some time back. No details. I suspect that if you get the basic measurements and then go shopping at Home Depot or Wally World you can find something close. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]One thought I has was that if you get something slightly larger...SLIGHTLY...you can stuff it in before topping off the air chambers and it would squeeze it into shape and firmly into place.[/#0000ff]

That is exactly what I'm trying to do TubeDude. The pic helps some because I'm trying to get an idea of what size I need with minimal trial and error and (unfortunately) limited time to actually inflate my tube and measure it.

Thanks for that pic.

Pete, I do the same exact thing with my phone, keys and camera. I just want something big in the back where I can also bring extra tackle boxes, clothing, etc. on a day-to-day basis.

flygoddess, my initial thought was to make an elevated shelf, but thanks to this site I was shown that I didn't have to make it so complicated.

I kinda starting to like that storage box idea my self.
Its easy , not too much money and it would work
just fine keeping everything in one place and DRY.
I seen some of those where the lid has kinda hadle locks
so it wont fly away in wind and stuff (wallmart I think).

I think the container would stay put really well if you put it in before you pump up the tube. That section of the tube is narrow and it would be easier to place it in before than trying to crma it in after. Let us know what size you get, as many of us have that tube and a similar problem.

Thanks
