There's about half a dozen koi that where released into a local pond about 4 years ago. Since then they have grown to be very large, the biggest is easily over 2 feet. The pond is very small, and filled with largemouth, green sunfish, bullheads, and the occasional crappie. I have no trouble hooking the largemouth, greens, and bullheads but these lone 6 carp have eluded me.
I can usually track 2 of them, because they are white so I can see them moving around the pond. The black ones/dark orange usually just stay with the big white one anyway..
Now the fun part, capturing these. I'd like to get them out of the pond before these 6 manage to reproduce and cause problems for the local fish. I've been trying cherries, zucchini, and carrots, as well as surface fishing using bread, and for the last 2 nights they have eluded me, and frankly show no interest in any of the bait.

I have a terrible wal-mart bought rod that I have no clue about, I can catch plenty of bass and big sunnies and drag in 14" bullheads so I figure it should hold up ok, especially after the fight I had with one of the bass in that pond..

Any ideas on getting these guys out of there? They do come close to shore now and than and I'm almost to the point of just buying some sort of net and going about it that way.

i would suggest a short-roped cast net. u can get them at just about every outdoor store for around $20.

Koi love bread but sounds like you already tried that so.
I know what I would do I would grab my bow and throw on my fish arrow and fire away pending If It was legal to shoot a bow there..

Dont be fooled those 6 fish will NOT harm the other fish in the pond in fact if and when they do manage to spawn ALL those other fish that you mentioned will eat the fry from the koi So sure you will probably end up with a few more koi but they will not have a negative affect on the other fish. If your local fish and game is worried about it then let them deal with it but do some research before you go try and get rid of them in fear they will have a negative impact on the other fish
