So, finely I found a small double action pump that I can
have on me to top off the tube when I need.
My question is- There is a large silicon looking "O" ring
inside that seals the pumping arm against the inside
wall of the pumping chamber. What can I use to lublicate the "O'' ring to keep it in good shape.

Ok, silicone lube it is.
Now, it looks like the "vent" flaps inside are made
of paper maybe. Is that possible? Sould I try to keep
that pump out of water or moisture?It was really cheap
like $3.99 + shipping .I just dont want it to feil when I need it the most...........

[#0000ff]Best to keep it dry. Keep it in a dry bag or at least a twisted and tied plastic bag. If it gets wet, it will probably be okay after drying out. But, best not to test it.[/#0000ff]

I just keep learning from this forum.
I have been using my double action hand pump a lot for the last couple years and it is lubed with vasoline. (gulp) I've got by fine but will clean it out and relube before the "O" ring rots out.

Ok, sounds good TD. I will try to keep it dry. Maybe couple of plastic bags. I still will be using my big pump
for normal filling of the tube. That little (black) pump
is just for top off on the water or when Im at the "other"
side of the lake.

[cool][#0000ff]You probably don't have to worry about Vaseline. It is pretty much "neutral", without petroleum distillates or solvents. Some lubricants can be aggressive on rubber products, especially if they are designed to cut rust and corrosion.[/#0000ff]

Why mot just blow your boat up by mouth...it is like the bag. Then you could skip this bag pump.

If you are considering the presser you can get from SQUEEZING this bag, "I" would think a little hand pump would be much easier and require less strength, but just my opinion.

Just "floating" some ideas here, FWIW. This was meant for neveronsunday request for 2# boat. Just about any pump would weight more than that and be very bulky to pack also. This bag is less bulky pressed flat, is very lightweight, and can be used for full pressure from what I gather- perfect for packing in situations. Even my "bag like mouth" cannot go to full pressure.[]

My Exped Downmat sleeping pad uses a similar bag contraption to both inflate the mat and store the mat in. It works great. I imaging this larger one would be pretty awkward to handle though.

The problem with Vaseline would likely be that when the temperature dips it becomes very stiff and may render the pump unusable in cold weather. [cool]

I remember a guy who lubed his reels with Vaseline and later that fall wondered why his spinning reels would no longer easily spin. D'oh![pirate]
