I got away from work a couple hours early yesterday, so I headed back up to the Weber, between Coalville and Wanship. I got there at around 6:00 PM and fished until around 9:00. I only landed one 19" brown on a hopper and a 17" whitie on a bhpt. I missed an absolute attack on my elk hair caddis cuz I was spacing out for second. Finally I hooked into a monster that hit a caddis, I tried to bring it in a little early and it snapped my 5x with ease. Oh well, I'll get it sooner or later.
All of this brings up a question. I'm usually pretty successful on the Weeb in the evening. However, I've never done very well on early morning trips. Does anyone have any advice on flies/techniques they're willing to share that produce well for them in the morning?

The morning time seems to be the hardest time for me to catch fish in the river. I have been up there 5 times this year and 10:00-3:00 seems to be the best time for me. We went early for the first time last Friday and caught 6 fish (5 whities and 1 brown) from 8:00 to 10:00, all on a BH hares ear or rainbow warrior. I know a couple of holes in the river that I can fish all day and catch a fish about every 10-15 minutes; sometimes quicker depending on how long the fish runs back and forth through the hole, and I can't seem to catch them early. I don't even see the fish flashing under the water until about 11:00. My friend and I tied on every fly combo we had for an hour and couldn't catch a fish to save our lives. I also wish I knew what to catch them on early in the morning. I guess we have always really slept in and waited for the air temp to get warmer for the bugs to start moving around. We only wake up early if we are going to go lake fishing.

I haven't ever fished the Weber in the evening. I have done very well in the morning.
Last weekend, I caught more browns before 8am than I did the rest of the day.
I was using a modified version of the "Neon Nightmare" (worm) with a green "Twizzler" (#18) below it. The Neon Nightmare caught 5 of the 6 browns that I landed. I hoked a couple more browns on the Twizzler, but couldn't land them. The Twizzler caught a few whitefish as well.
After 8am, the fishing slowed and I only caught whitefish, so I left about noon.

Would you be so kind as to describe to me what a neon nightmare looks like? I've looked all over the internet and can not find a picture of the fly! I've read several reports on how good the fly is, but no pics. You can PM me if you like. Thanks!

Guess not. The neon nightmare remains a mystery. Does anyone have the recipe? Thanks.
