Saw two good bulls, 2 good bucks and fished five lakes. I got skunked at Upper Box Creek, Barney, and Otter Creek.
Fishing was good at Lower Box Creek in the middle of the day. I arrived at LBC around noon on Friday (24th) and threw out a couple of flies behind a bubble and was suprised to catch a fish on the first cast. This continued for a couple of hours when I decided to stop and cook one for lunch. Then I caught a couple more before heading off to look for elk. I returned just at dark and only got one bite a brookie. All the others had been bows.
I returned to LBC Saturday about 10:00 and the fishing was just as good as the day before. Friday I just about had the place to myself but Saturday there were at least a dozen other fisher people. Several families with kids and all were catching fish. Most of them were using pb but there was one other fly flinger and he also caught fish.
Saturday evening I went down to Otter Creek for the evening. I went out on my tube about 7:00 didn't even have a bite. Although the damsel flies were hatching all over. They keep climbing onto the tube and up the back of my neck. I had one sit out on the front of the tube and completly change from a nymph to an adult. I only saw about 3 fish rise but they were big ones. It sounded like some one threw out the anchor.
This morning I stopped at Piute and fished from the bank. There were a few fish rising. I caught one nice smallmouth on a fly. Since I couldn't get any more I switched to hardware and caught a couple of dink smb on a rapala.
