Well with my work and Jmax's boat issues neither of us had been on the Chick in over a week. We decided to donate to the Ratman's dog fight anyway.
We started out fishing a deep water point and I got a 15.1" squeaker keeper on a DD22 for our efforts.
Our next spot resulted in a goose egg. These first two spots have been producing keepers for us the past few weeks but today was pretty poor.
Our 3rd spot resulted in one goober bass. Again a spot that usually has a bunch of goober on it only had one today.
After this we made the decision to run downriver and fish areas neither of us had fished in over a month. The first spot gave up 2 goobers. Jmax got one on his first cast at the spot and I told him he jinxed us.
The next two spots were areas I did really well on back in June. The first area is a point on a rip/rap/chunk rock bank that you cannot see looking at the shorline. I got our second keeper there (a 17" skinny bass) and got another goober. So now I have 2 keepers in the box and Jmax has only boated one slick and the tourny only has just over an hour left. So we move to the next spot and Jmax makes up in a hurry by boating a 3.86 lber on a shakey head. We got a couple more goobers off this spot and ran back up to Harrision Bay at dark.
Our last spot is the typical grass flat we always fish. We boat two more goobers right off but with about 20 minutes left Jmax boats our money fish, a 4.09 lb LM on a red/black worm. I did a masterful net job in the dark as I have been getting a lot of practice lately. Jmax needs to work on his netting skills however.emoPoke
We ended up with 11 bass boated, with 4 keepers. Our best 3 went 10.08 lbs which was good enough for 2nd place. Not too bad since we had not been on the lake in over a week. Not many bags were weighed in as I think a lot of folks left early. It was a tough night out with little current and a strong wind.
Always good to get paid for fishing.
