Fished the berry Sun. the 26th. Caught two nice 17 inch Kokes and lost one about the same size at the boat. Also got quite a few cutts, a few on the top end of the slot, and a couple of those little planters they have been putting in the lake lately. Got four chub also, used one for bait but fish seemed to prefer the worms over the chub meat.

Kokes were caught fishing on the east side of renegade point approx. 30 ft deep. All three hit a red bladed, red beaded wedding ring tipped with worm. Cutts were caught in the same area, along the eastern shorline, and some in the narrows after the wind came up. Cutts hitting the same wedding ring along with a green beaded one my partner was fishing with. He switched to a red bead after I got the Kokes but he didn't have one with a red blade. He used a silver hammered blade that worked fine on the cutts but didn't seem to intrest the kokes like the red blade did.

Give a man a fish and he will have dinner for the day, teach a man to fish and he will be late for dinner.

Ocean,

Unfortunately that third koke I mentioned that I lost at the boat swam away with my only wedding ring in that style, maybe that's why we didn't catch any more after that. What I can do is tell you a little more detail.

The wedding ring was the larger of the two sizes they come in. It had a blade that had a sticker on it that was plain red (not orange) with black, I guess you would call them tiger stripes, on it and a silver back. I stopped by Sportsmans earlier and they didn't have that exact model but they did have some in that size with red beads and sort of a fluorecent red hammered blade so I bought a couple, I am going to try cabelas tomorrow. If these don't work I may try painting on some stripes with model paint. We were using leaded line and going out almost three colors so that is why I said approx. 30 feet deep. I was using a two tone silver and gold cowbell set of pop gear with about 6 feet of leader. I do have some pics of the fish but I am new here and don't know how to post them.

Hope this is at least some help.

ps. We were not particularly targeting kokes, just happen to stumble on what they wanted out of dumb luck, which is usually they way it is with fishing.

Thanks for the info i will have to go into one of those stores and ask about the gear for koke fishing.

FYI... Cabelas doesn't have any wedding rings. I may have ticked off the guy who checked me out when I said, "How can you call yourself the worlds foremost outfitter when you don't have a single wedding ring in the whole store."
