I have been working on some tweeking for the Fish Cat#4 .
I am thinking of silicone caulking my Eagle 320c transducer to the PVC bottom right behind the seat . I would also make a little battery cmpt. above the water line on the seat back.
This is still in the planning stage. Has anyone tried this concept?? I only have concerns with the bottom being of more than one layer of material.
My reasoning with using silicone is that I think I can peel it off if it doesn't work out as planned.

More details please. I just dont get the PVC bottom right
behind the seat. Do you mean like bottom of the tube ???

[#0000ff]From past experience with using the transducer to shoot through ice (and a thin layer of water), it does not produce the same quality display as when shooting through water top to bottom. Anything between the electronics and the bottom will cause interference and potential distortion. Even bubbles caused by normal boat operation will mess up the signal on boat mounted sonar.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]The area behind the seat is also subjected to a lot of "rock and roll"...making the mount an unstable one from the standpoint of shooting straight down. If the beam keeps moving around...especially over uneven bottom...you will get a wacky signal. The more stable you can keep the 'ducer the better.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]The only way to tell for sure is to give it a try. By using an easily removeable silicone seal, you will be able to go back to plan A if Plan B does not work out.[/#0000ff]

You talking siliconing the transducer right to the bottom of you tube?

What is wrong with a side mount? By mounting it on the side you can put it 1/2" higher than the bottom of your tube (on flat level ground) and it will be perfect in the water, plus less chance to bump it.
They don't have to be below the boat.

Say TD are you able to pick up your jig or lure with your setup like we can ice fishing?

[cool][#0000ff]Not during most of the tube fishing I do, because my jig is seldom in the cone of the 20 degree transducer. But, I have experimented by dropping something straight down next to the transducer rod and you can pick up the jig. It takes some adjustment of the sensitivity though. I usually fish with less than 100%. You don't need 100% but the higher the sensitivity the smaller the objects you can see in deeper water.[/#0000ff]

HEAY, sometimes that anchor movement is all there is...LOL
For the record, I don't use one anymore....kept distracting me.[laugh]..just kidding, prefer the flippers to hold me. Specially when deep nymphing. I have to be able to move a little.
If my Hummer goes, I was thinking that 565 also, but so far it is still working.
