So, I have all my equipment together for my Spicer Meadow Reservoir trip. Leaving Sunday, coming back I don't know when... depends on my buddy Chico.

Chico is my parrot, a Blue & Gold Macaw that has shared my life for the last 15 years. He went camping with me once before years ago, and he enjoyed it then so I hope he does this time.

I bought a NOS Fat Cat from a member here. it came with a set of Turbo Thruster fins, and he also had a brand new looking set of XXL ForceFins (the standard model, not the float tube specific model) in size XXL.

The ForceFins sizing guide led me to believe the XXL would work fine over my size 11 Orvis wading shoes, but no way is that going to happen. Fortunately, if I wear a pair of heavy wool socks inside my Orvis Tailwater XT stocking foot waders, the stockingfoot part seems to be a pretty good fit in both the ForceFins and the Turbo Thrusters, so I am good to go there.

I got a pump for the tube and a set of fin keepers and some flies I hope are suitable, a floating line and a spare spool with an intermediate sink tip (which is probably what will catch the fish).

I'm excited, will give y'all a report when I return.

Thanks guys. This is my first fishing trip in about 15 years, and my first float tubing trip in longer than that, so I am really looking forward to it.

I'm back. No fish. Didn't see anyone else catch any either. Maybe it was the full moon but I must have spent 12 hours over two days tubing, and never so much as a bump.

Oh well.

It's a gorgeous place and I am delighted with the way all the equipment worked including the Fat Cat (but what were they thinking when they designed that apron? Suppose anyone from Outcast fished with it and thought it was something more than totally useless and annoying?). The ForceFins made my paddling effortless and cramp-free.

Good time with good friends, etc... Glad to be back, ah'm TARD.
