I typed out a long post, and my internet spazzed and deleted it. Then I did it again, and the same thing happened...so this is condensed. Used to fish a good amount, quit for 5 years when I moved to CT. Just got back from Lake Placid NY and after catching about 30 fish, mostly perch and bluegill, one small rainbow, I got the spark again.

Today I went out to a pond that I hear has good bass, but the easy fishing access spots were taken so I fished out of the river feeding into it. Used a black/chartreuse worm for a bit texas rigged then switched to a white spinner that I've never had success with. After 45min no luck with the plastic I got this fish about 10min in with the spinner. No idea what it is, the guy near me called it a sucker but I dont know. I feel like it was around 15" or so but I may be wrong, could anyone estimate a length and weight based on the pics? I also included pics of my reel and the spinner. Its a shakespeare intrepid spinning reel and I've had it for a whillleeeee, probably was really cheap I don't remember. I want to getr a baitcaster soon and I like one at Dicks called a Quantum something for $100 (says I'd be saving 50 bucks?) Should I stick with the shakespeare (shakespeare rod too) or pick up the baitcaster? I know how to use a baitcaster by the way

Feels good to catch something a bit bigger than the perch and bluegill I was getting last week. I'm going back out at 6am tomorrow with a chatterbait that I bought tonight to fish the pond for bass. I mentioned I got a chatterbait tonight, as well as a Wordens rooster rail in orange/green/yellow. I have a ton of soft plastics but no senkos. I have 2 spinners and a ton of small jigs too. I do not have a crankbait though, should I pick one up? Any recommendations? Thanks...Wish me luck [cool]

You can go crazy buying cranks, but I always have a jointed rapala in brown and white and a lucky craft jointed pointer in white.
