im going camping to bear lake this weekend, i never fish there so i thought i might give it a try. i may or may not get a chance to fish,its al lup to my uncle who owns the boat. i just wanted to know whats working and how deep.

As you see, not many replies yet. That might be because there are far few fishermen on BL this time of year than in the fall, winter, and spring. That is because the easiest catching is generally fall through spring when the water is colder. And to add insult to injury, the fast boats and water skiers that cover the lake this time of year is undesirable to the fishermen.
Now, having said that, no doubt someone will beg to differ with me and show pictures to back them up. But they are definitely the minority.
Now, to answer your question. Consider fishing the East side south of Cisco beach in about 100 feet deep water. Vertical jig with a 5 inch white tube jig tipped with cisco or chub.
Lots of guys troll with down-riggers too. But since I don't do that, I can't give you any advice.

Do you use a special rod/reel to jig that deep? 100 feet is alot of line on one reel plus line to work the fish. Do the fish's eyes pop out when you pull them up from that deep?

Yea, I do use a special rod and reel. It's a Scoby-Do rod/reel combo. You can pick them up at Wal-Mart. But you have to replace the line because the line breaks when a fish bites the hook.
Since when was a 100 feet of line a lot of line? These S-D rod/reel combos come with 112 feet of line.
The only eyes that pop out when we pull them up from that deep are my own!

100 feet is deep when one has to pull up the anchor, but manageable for fishing. Mackinaws are one of the fish species that are usually able to burp off the gas when brought up from deep water so they are usually able to survive being caught from the deep waters and then released.

Old coot pretty much summed it up for you. If you have riggers I would try the areas that Coot told you also. If you have electronics that will help too. Nothing worse than fishing dead water which can happin pretty easy up there.
If you can troll, Try using Flatfish in Chrome colors, frog or pearch scale patterns also. Rapalas in black/white, black silver black yellow and rainbow trout have also produced fish up there over the years for me.
I would knda let the conditions dictate what you do. If the weather is nice, smooth water, then try jigging. If water is rough, windy, skiers and such, then drop the riggers and get after them. good luck, can be tough fishing up there this time of year. very hit and miss.

We just finished up with our summer round of netting. Judging by where we caught fish (and lack of any credible reports from the anglers) I would fish in 65-85 feet of water. This was by far the most productive areas for cutthroat and lake trout. The area on the east side from the Rainbow Cove boat ramp out towards North Eden (just north of Rainbow Cove) has been producing the best fishing all summer. I'd either jig like Ol Coot indicated, or troll with downriggers in this same area.
