[#008000]The DAV event was a raging success ! I think almost everyone caught fish and I am sure everyone had a great time. I know I sure did ! It was well organized and everyone I saw seemed enthusiastic and were enjoying themselves. [/#008000]

I just can't say how thankful I am to all of you that did so much to help and take charge of everything that had to be done...
I have a few pictures to post but first I need to rest up, Again thanks to you all for a great job very well done....

Fishhound dang I posted to the other one while you put this up...
Man and all's we can say is W-O-W what an awesome time. [cool]
We were on the cooking detail but hats off to all the boat captains for taking the Vets out for a very memorable time they 'won't' soon forget.
Thanks to Cliff, Jean, Bob, Garry, Jackie, Larry, Kay, Pete, Curtis...just to name a few as I met so many BFT'rs I can't remember all the names. [blush]
Thanks to the great sponsors also to many I can't remember them all.
Every Vet walked away with great gifts and I'm sure an experience of a lifetime. It was for us. [
]
Several Vets I talked with for sure want something like this next year. One Gentlemen said he wished they do it again next week, the week after, and the week after that. Another Vet was so pleased just to get out of the house and be in the great Utah outdoors. Yet another Vet was just pleased and thankful that folks really cared and wanted to share with them. There were a 'whole-lot-of-very-BIG-SMILES'...without a doubt. [
]
Thanks to the VA for making this possible also and to the Staff of folks and family members who accompied these Vets and the drivers of the VA Vans.
And Thanks to Adam Eckle (sp?) from Rough'n It KUTV Channel 2 for taking the time to come up and film this event. Looking forward to seeing it on the 22nd I believe.
So here's some photos I took when I was done serving the burgers to a hungry bunch of very happy anglers...[
]
Again thank you for the AWESOME time. [

Whew! Im worn out. That early wake up was rough on this swing shifter. Well worth it though. It was a pleasure sharing the day fishing with Tom, wiperhunter2, Christie and the rest of the folks that came out to fish today. The fish co-operated for us. No skunk here. What a great picnic afterwards. A big hand to all who came out to help out and to the sponsors that supported this effort to honor Disabled Veterans with some good fishing and outdoors.

It looks like tons o' fun and rewarding hard work.
I'm looking into my crystal ball and see something similar in February or so. What does everyone else think? Looks like a great way to spend a winter day to me.
I'll help set something up at Strawberry or wherever. Scofield before Christmas, if possible? Anyway, I'm game to help if it comes to pass. I had to work today or would have been there.

[#500000]Bassrods!.....Your wife worked her behind off yesterday,....and as an impartial observer I watched Garry, his fiancee and the crew of cooks operate with the precision of an expensive Shimano reel......Hats off to that whole crew, behind the scenes and inside the pavilion for pulling that one off.......WW.[/#500000]

Had a great day and a big thanks to everyone. The young lady that I took out was a great fishing partner. She has never been fishing before much less caught a fish. She had a great time from what I could gather, and I even appointed her Boat Capt. for awhile. She says she wants to go again just needs an invite. [fishin]

Thanks Bassrods for putting this together. We had a great time taking Mike out. I was actually lucky enough to put a couple fish in the boat for him. I was worried about a skunk as I've never really went after trout before. I wish I would have brought a camera with me but it was dead and I couldn't find the charger. A big thanks to the sponsors as well. I know Sportsman's Warehouse, Cabela's, Fish Tech, Anglers Den, Streamlight, Browning and I'm sure a bunch more that I'm not aware of. Mike our DAV made the comment several times that next year after the word gets out as to how much fun they had this thing will be double the size so Bassrods get planning ha ha.

I was just curious if you were able to archive the pictures any place yet, looking forward to seeing all the different faces. Looked like we had alot of Happy faces there. Looking forward to next event. Thanks again to everyone and all of the sponsors. [fishin]

This was a great event! I am already thinking towards the next one. My Vet had a great time, even though my day was cut a little short due to an electrical problem in the boat. Thanks to Cliff and all the volunteers and the sponsors. The food was great and the comeradery was even better. I also enjoyed meeting the fellow BFT'rs.

Well, my boat didn't catch any fish. Little bummed I didn't get a VET, but you can bet I'll sign up earlier for the next one.
Very awesome event. Proud to be a part of it and look forward to the next time. Hope all those VET's spread the word and we all have to double up next time.

[#008000]Debriefing - Boat number 2 (as we were designated by someone for some reason) Crew - BigBassaholic, Daniel (a Korean Vet), and FishHound (me). We had a great team and, it was a great team effort that brought about a completely successfull outing for all three of us. [/#008000]
[#008000][/#008000]
[#008000]Daniel was the master angler on our boat and got top rod honors, biggest fish and most catches of the day. All of his fish were cutts and over 20 inches (and were caught jigging with barbless hooks) - the largest being 24 + inches ! [/#008000]
[#008000][/#008000]
[#008000]Don (BigBassaholic), was the commander (who provided our vessel), Boat captain, Pilot, ship's galley officer, and photographer. [/#008000]

[#008000]I was navigator, bait cutter, rigger, net man, general deck swabber, token salty dog, and did my best to get in everyone else's way.[/#008000]
[#008000][/#008000]
[#008000]It was a day of a lot of first time events for Daniel; First time at Strawberry, first Cutthroat ever caught, biggest trout ever caught, first time ever jigging, first time ever fishing with a barbless hook, and, his very first fish on his brand new rod and reel that he had just gotten in the mail and he had brought himself for the event.[/#008000]

Great day it was. DAV was smiling from ear to ear all day. Thanks for coming along chuck and sharing a hot spot with me. I would have been lost without your help on the location and bait. I have never fished strawberry and dont fish for trout. (I might start though) The day couldn't have been better. Thanks for your help.
