Well today I started on Jacobs toon mods's. I made a rod holder and I figured out where he will try his fish finder. I hope the spot where we are planning the FF is ok. We worked the oars to see if it would interfere and everything looks fine, but we will have to get it wet to find out for sure. I don't like the length of the FF that hangs down. With that FF I have NO options on a toon. If the water is shallow or there is a chance he can bump a rock he will have to take it off, but he already does that now so it won't be that big of a deal.
I still need to cut some length off the active rod holders, and notch them for the reels. I like to cut them out so the rods lock into place. I added a union to the active rod holders so they can be adjusted on the water. The center rod holders in the back will be used when he is not actively fishing.
I added some holders for the oars. I saw them at the store. They are gun racks for a ATV. I thought that if a guy was wearing fins, and was S L O W trolling for cats by using his fins he could get them out of the water and out of his hair.
I am not sure where a guy can put the fish basket. I was thinking he could put it under the seat, and when he wants to put a fish in he will have to pull it out from under the toon. Off to the side would be too far to reach. If anyone has a tip on that feel free to add it.
I still need to make a sushi board and a few other things. But it is getting close to being done. Ron

I do tie mine on the side while fishing and if I need to the cord I use is long enough for it to trail in the "wake" as I move along. It gets it out of the way for oaring and also seems to be less of a drag there, probably isn't but just seem to be less.
Concerning the FF could you maybe put a longer piece of PVCin to havve thr FF ride higher?

The fish basket seems to pull my float tube to one side. I was thinking that if he let it float under it would pull straight. We will have to test it a bit. I know when that basket is full it is tough to pull. Ron

Under to me will always be in the way of my feet and if you go over anything and it gets sanged up it may be very difficult to get it undone.

As for the fish bucket-how about a "bait tank" with
a small pump behind the seat out of the water. That way
there is nothing in the way. Just a idea
FF- the reason I did not get the fish buddie is the fact that
the shaft is so long and goes so deep into the water.Or
you have to have it way up in the sky.[

Sportsmans carries a fishing buddy holder for tubes/toons made by mountain cork that straps on to the tube. Easy to pull FF in and out. Just an idea. I use one similar for mine.

The bait bucket would be a problem I don't want anything on the rack, and that would be heavy. The pontoons are going to be used to float the Snake River. We are going to go for long trips and camp on Islands at night. I don't want a bucket taking up space for camping gear. The strap on fishing buddy holder puts the transducer just as low and the way we have it mounted now. The problem is the oars. Anywhere you put the buddy it is in the way and not being a buddy[cool]

Ron, I use a smaller LAUNDRY BAG. They are made out of mesh. I attach a Carabiner to it and hang it off the side of the toon. Fish will stay live in them as it is hanging in the water.
Rolls up small when not in use.
I don't keep many fish, but there are to un-revivable cases that do become dinner.
Works for me and doesn't throw my tracking off.
