so I wont have this kinda problem for some time? Its
realy getting to my. What a pain in the a$$.
Breadeble is what Im looking for.
Are Simms really that good for the money???

Sorry to hear of your problem . I have been through it too many times , so understand your fustration. I got up to the $200.00 range before I gave up and bought the Simms convertables.
I'm almost reluctant to bring up the Simms Convertables due to the insanely high price. There are two points that really stand out for me with them.
Point#1 I don't need to unzip the chest portion of them. They are plenty high enough for me in the Fish Cat#4 float tube I am using. I weigh 222 and bought XL I wear a #11 1/2 E and the stocking foot fits perfectly, and is at least double the thickness of Cabelas. . They are heavier weight, but not noticable to wear. They are far and above the most comfortable waders I have ever worn.
Point no#2 might interest you. THEY DON'T LEAK ------yet. lol I have only used them a couple dozen trips ,but no problems so far.
I also bought a pair of Rivendell chest waders. They have 3 grades and I got the middle one. I I paid $66 on auction, probably not a steal but I am impatient. Friends have used them a few times and they haven't leaked yet.
I hope this bit of information helps a bit. Illinoisgiller

Thank you for your replay Giller. the feedback with Simms
helps.
I may try some of the Rivendell first and if they do leak
after short time then I just may get the Simms.
Im just sooooooooooo tires or leaking leaders.

thank you

I am not going to lie and say SIMMS aren't an excellent answer.
HOWEVER, I have a brother in law that wears his allot and even does some sprinkler work with them and no leaks. He has the G3's which are definitely in the UPPER END next to the G4's
But in the same breath, being a guide, I have heard several Guides complain their Simms leak. Don't know about the waders, but there BOOTS are now made in CHINA.

It does appear that a good pair of waders is going to set you back at least $200.+. Not all cases[Wink]

I wish I could answer personally for you. My husband and I have the Orvis PRO GUIDES. They are 5 years old, or I should say his are. I did have to have mine replaced while on a guiding trip.
I wet wade rivers in the summer, wear hippers or waste highs on my pontoon and my chest or waist highs in the winter...so I don't wear ONE pair of waders that often.

Don't forget there is PATAGONIA, L.L. BEAN, WILLIAM JOSEPH, CLOUD VEIL. also out there. They are up there in price as well, but not quite as high as the G4's.

One more thing. Are you SURE they are leaking?

Funny, I was just looking at the Simms stuff this morning. I am considering going that route as well.

My Bass Pro waders have served me well, but you can only ask so much from them. I got pretty wet yesterday, and the worst part is that when they constantly let water in they REEK! And obviously once you take them off, that stank doesn't come off with the waders.

But I would still try to get the replacements replaced. Replacement or not, they shouldn't leak that quick.

Leaking for sure. I hang them inside out and filled with water- leaking at the seam =(

thank you for your input sister.

OKAY, on that note, I do want to put this out there.

BREATHABLE WADERS DO NEED TO BE WASHED!
The breathable pores get clogged with dirt and they no longer breath.
The Waders I have come across have ALL had washing instructions.
I wash mine line every three months. Maybe that is why they are lasting so long.[laugh][laugh]

I turn my waders inside out and wash with weak soap solution every time I use them long enough to sweat any.
My Rivendell loaners are washed every time anyone uses them.
Peter, How well I know that leakers can get RANK. lol
I forgot to mention that my Simms Convertables are G3s and Cabelas sells them also. Illinoisgiller

I do wash my waders (by hand), especially when the smell starts to be an issue. I think I washed mine last in June. I think I do have actual leaks though, as I have problems in the same spots every time.

Just kidding you man! I am sure you take care of your gear.

Leaks happen...and at the worse times[bobhappy]

I bought a set of Orvis Tailwaters XT bootfoot waders, and they came with a nice pair of wading boots for free. $249 for the whole thing, and they didn't leak a drop on my recent 3 days of sitting in the tube. I also didn't sweat in them. The "breathable" even works under water (lets water vapor out, but liquid water can't get in).

These are the most comfortable waders I have ever owned, by a long shot.

RE"Are Simms really that good for the money???"

Yes! (IMO) I have had my Simms Classic Guides for 3 years, have fished them hard, and have had zero problems with them. Not one leak, and I have put them through quite a lot, including a recent Alaska trip. The Classic Guides were a step below the G3 or G4, and I didn't see them in a catalogue recently, but a mid tier Simms may be just the ticket for you, instead of ponying up max $$$ for the G4's.

I relly need to look into the Simms. I wander what they
customer service and leaking replacemet is like.

Peter

Peter I haven;t looked, but perhaps Cabelas carries, or would order other than the G3s I got from them. If not listed, I would ask customer service for a quote on a pair if not listed.
It is a brutal economy out there and I would think they would do what they can to help.

That is the great thing about Cabela carrying Simms. You get the Cabela warranty where Simms might not go.
The upper end waders are pro rated for sure and most are not as willing to just replace.

I bought cheapies at gander mountain, worked great for about a year, then got a leak on one of the feet in the seam.
Bought a bottle of wader sealand for 5.00 clams, sealed leak, now they work great again![Smile]

AquaSeal is probably the most widely-used sealant, google it to find a place to buy it.
