Went Tues with the Sparkinator and then again today 8/13 in my tube and fished the S. side of the point with very limited success and then today on the first fee area on the N. side past the dam with better success. Can you believe they are now charging 5$ to park at this little turn out??? [Image: icon_twisted.gif] Both places fished from 4-5 hrs. The first place I caught a BIG 15 in, guy that was about as fat as any I have caught. Have no idea as to weight and some dinks. 3 1/2- 4 #??? Lost another, broke off, my bad. Today caught about 6 between 10 and 13. along with a bunch of dinks. Just need to find em. They seem to be oriented to deeper water with brush, vegetation and off points. Again, I just have to say that smallies fight soooooooo much harder than LM. I love em. [Image: icon_biggrin.gif] Sparky just had fun swimming around and trying to help me. [Image: icon_biggrin.gif] [Image: icon_biggrin.gif] Some dogs tried to visit but he wouldn't have any of it. just wagged his tail and came out to visit me and help.

Thanks for the report. What were you using? and where is the "south side of the point?"

South side of Cemetery Point and 3 1/2 reapers.

What is a reaper and what color do you use?
How do you use them?[Jig head, sinkers]
Where do you buy them?
Is this a name brand or just a type of plastic lure?
Thanks,

It's a plastic lure that I'm used to and seem to have reasonable success with on LM and smallies on most any reservoir. There are plenty of other plastics that are just as good, if not better, but I get stubborn/fixed and tend to use the same thing as long as it works.
Brand is Kamakazee and You can order them on the internet in the 3" size or buy them at Sportsmans. You can also get them a little bit larger, 3 1/2"? on the internet. I'll let you do your own internet research since it's not good form to post links for products on the forum, so I've been told.

I use a drop shot technique with a medium split shot on the bottom. I Split the tail of the reaper for more action and hook it weedless.

Thank you, Leaky.
I have had a little success using Maniac Cuttr Bugs that look a little like this.
I'm totally in the dark as far as Bass fishing goes.
When you say "drop shot" how do you do it?
In my mind, I see having a long tag end of the line that you add the split shot to. Is this correct?
If not, how do you do it?
Thanks,

First of all, the Maniac cutter bug in the watermellon or similar colors was a previous lure I used and will go to when the reaper isn't working well. I split the tail on the Maniacs too.
You have the basic idea correct. There's been lots of posts on drop shotting and you can find all sorts of stuff on the internet. For myself, I do it a little simpler not using the specialized knots, etc, I just use a very short tag line above the split shot. I just tie an over hand knot in the main line and let the tag line slid down to that knot at the desired distance, i.e. 8-16 in. above. If I want to increase the distance I either slide the tag line up (friction) or tie another knot. Also, the drop shot is designed for more vertical fishing but I use it for cats and retrieve along the bottom, slow, slow, slow. Well, so much for all my special secrets.[Smile] Now it's time for you to do your homework and get out there for some first hand learning.[Smile][Smile][Smile][Wink]
P.S. Where the heck are all you other bass experts. Why aren't you jumping in with your 2 cents???? [crazy]

Your doing such a good job why jump in...[Wink][sly]

Now there's an unexpected complement,----- I think. [Smile]

I heard from good source that you have a friend that catches most of your fish or tells you how to...[Wink][laugh]

I have one as well, aren't they great.....[cool][sly]

Mine is mostly "dogging" it and not very human, what about yours? [laugh][laugh][laugh][laugh] But he is pretty forgiving with a great temperament. He's mostly "all wet" though on fishing advice. [Wink]
