Headed down a couple canyons past Escalente last weekend with a buddy's in-laws on their house boat and had a blast! They have never really done any fishing on their bi-yearly trips (i know right?? what a waste!) so I convinced them to come out early and look for some boils with me in the morning. They loved it! We got into little two and three splash boils every morning, sometimes we'd chase them but mostly we just sat in a canyon where we'd seen them and waited for them to come back up. We did get into a couple real boils which got all of us into fish and gave them some motivation to buy thier own gear for thier next trip. Top water stripers is pretty much the coolest thing ever [
] I'd rather do that than just about anything!
The LM and SM action was pretty crappy, nothing but the dinks were hiding out in the flooded brush around camp and since I didn't have a fishing boat or fish finder I couldn't try much more than walking the shore around camp. The stripers were all very healthy and in the 3-4.5lb range and put up an incredible fight! Ah, I love it down there!!
