Thursday, 08/13/09- Hit the water early (5:30am). Motored out of Boulder Harbor in the predawn darkness of Lake Mead. What a great day to solo.

Scratched up several small stripers feeding on the surface at the entrance of Boulder Harbor.

Headed to Gov't Wash with the sunrise. This is how it ended:

Now for the painful part. [frown] While handling a striper one of the treble hooks impaled my finger. There I was with a striper fliping around with a hook stuck in my finger! Oooouuch! [shocked] All I can say is I'm glad I keep a pair of sidecutters handy on the boat.

After cutting the line and releasing the striper I took this shot.

Cut the hook to relieve pressure. Stowed the gear and headed for the ramp. Off the water by 8:15am. Pulled into Green Valley Urgent Care at 9:10 and became an instant celebrity; their first hook extraction.

Ahhh! What a relief!
What a morning, twenty dollar copay, thirty three dollar tetanus shot, etc. This photo about sums up what I thought of it. Excuse me, I have a lure that needs new hooks on it! [Wink]

Wow man... [shocked] that looks pretty uncomfortable.

You make to La Paz and back unscathed, and get nailed by a little striper on Mead.

... that makes me cringe. I caught a treble in the palm, but right in the finger tip looks AWFUL!

Glad the tetanus shot was close at hand.

Off topic, that's a nice top-water plug...
