After some of my own ideas and after pondering the coments and results of [url "http://www.bigfishtackle.com/cgi-bin/gforum/gforum.cgi?post=523771;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed"]the voting[/url], I have made the decision to hold the 2009 7th Annual BFT Salsa Boyz fishing party at Strawberry this year rather than at Bear Lake as in years past. Kind of a bummer for the sake of tradition but quite exciting knowing how great the fall fishing can be at the Berry.

Because Strawberry is so far from Cache Valley and Bear Lake, we may loose some of the old regulars from up North. That is really a disappointing thought. But, on the flip side of the coin, we will probably meet many other new anglers from southern parts who wouldn’t normally make the long drive up to Bear Lake but would have liked to join in too.

Personally, I am looking forward to changing it up a little and see how it works out this year at the Berry.
It would be ludicrous to even hope that BearLakeFishGuy would ever show up at the Berry with his famous home made Bear Lake raspberry jam and hot out-of-the-oven bread like he has in years past. That is a treat that would be tough to match.

Never the less, we’ll give Strawberry a try this year.

Excelent question kochanut.

Everyone is invited. No special invites. No event fees. No "official" contest. Just good fun, food, friends, and fishing.

Another benifet for holding it at the Berry this year is that many of you in float tubes will be able to participate much easier too.

awesome! if thats the case too i might also drag my toon out there instead of my boat. Trout_Slayer will still be in the Stan unless you think someone would be willing to jump in and have a fishing partner for the day? any advice is appreciated on boat or toon?

regardless if it was at the Berry, I would have made the drive, but that is the opener of the duck/goose season and I'll be out on the marsh that morning. Try not to get peppered by steel shot out on Strawberry!

Doh! I just sent you a p.m. (for other things...) and mentioned that I might be able to make it this year...but I just saw the dates (Oct 3rd) in this thread and realized that I'll be in Wyoming hunting Antelope that weekend...so once again I'm out. [frown]

But like Kent mentioned, I've always wanted to fish Strawberry also. []

Should be a good time, and I suspect a lot more fish will be caught by all!

Then BAM!, it’s changed to Strawberry. So I’m thinking that maybe that wouldn’t be too bad, and then the date jumps up and hits me – the duck opener. No way I’m going to miss the opening of duck season; my Lab would disown me. Oh well, there’s always 2010.[/size][/#800000][/font]

All of your complaints about the event being held on the duck and elk openers on October the 3rd are quite valid. And suggestions to hold it a week later on the 10th are all very good as well.

Just one big problem ... I, myself, would not be able to make it on the 10th.

So, if anyone would like to take over organizing the Salsa Boyz party for this one year and hold it on the 10th, then I am good with that.

But wait a minute, wouldn't guys that are hunting duck and elk on the opener also want to be out hunting the following weekend too?

Ah ... what the heck. Never mind. I think I will just leave it as is ... Saturday, Oct. 3rd ... and I will stay in charge of organizing it.
