[Image: bobwink.gif]Hello to all. My name is Mark, I am new here. Looking forward to meeting some and talking to most here. I have been a lost fisherman for a few years but after talking with a good friend he got me excited about fishing again. He was showing me some pictures of his toon he was customizing and since I own 2 Outcast Pac 80's I purchased 7 or 8 years ago, I got excited about fixing all the problems I had using them them last time my son and I went fishing at Strawberry Res.

Im gona make this short, Got blown across lake, no anchor, getting dark, daughter got tired of rowing, had to tow her back, darn near did not make it. She lost her rod, I almost lost mine a few times. Caught nothing, toon came untied from truck and drug tips on pavement runing cover and bladder. (ok im an idiot for not tying it in better).

All in all it was a lousy trip and I put them both away for years. So after seeing what Kevin did to his toon, I had to pimp my ride.

purchased a motor / anchor mount, new Discovery 8 toons for my daughters frame. Added a rod rack the length of the left toon and a rod rod holder to the right. Tore apart my Fishing buddy and built a down rig to deploy and tuck up under the back deck the transducer. I also added oar rests, a 10 lb anchor and Minn Kota 34.

I fixed all the problems I had since I put it way, I't said ya can't fix stupid, but I hope I learned to tie it in the truck a little better this time.

Pray for me that when I take it to sea trials tomorrow it still floats!

Will let you know how it all works out.

Until then

Mark

[cool][#0000ff]Welcome aboard Mark. Hope your second shot at "floatation fishing" works out better than the first one. Of course, in hindsight, you set yourself up for a lot of the problems...as you are well aware.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I like to point out to newbie tubers and tooners that there seems to be a number or prerequisite boo boos and blunders one has to accomplish before one can officially consider themselves members of our "religion". Sounds like you tried to get them all out of the way on your first trip.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Good luck with the refurbishing. [/#0000ff]

Just don't forget a PFD at all times wether you wear it or not, got to have one and got to license that toon with the motor. Very expensive ticket.

Also, don't know if you mounted the motor on the front or the back, but if you did on the back, turn the head so the prop is facing the same direction. Easier to pull than push.

Very nice. It looks like your new-old toon is going
to be just fine now.
If you get to go on your maiden voyage, just take it
easy and have fun with it.
Welcome a board and best of luck.

You said your toons were 7 or 8 years old.....were the bladders Urethane?
I use to love Outcast, but they have switched to Vinyl bladders (& Asian Made) on all there pontoons under 12' (the real high priced models).

Yes they are Urathane. Well the one im customizing still is. I had to buy new toons for the other frame as I ruined the other set. I purchased a set of Discovery 8 toons from FlyTech. The Dave Scadden quality days are over it seems. The vinyls will be ok for my daughter. She just stillwater fisher for now. Just have to keep in eye on them that they dont over pressure. I picked up a guage to just be sure.

Was planning a tip to Trial or Mirror tomorrow with Albinotrout. Some one call in and marked off at work so now I have to cover for them. Bummer! Oh well still plenty of good days ahead.

Keep smiling

Mark

Bummer for sure! If you make it up that way this weekend, like Mirror or Washington, look for the Yellow Outlaw.

I will, Albinotrout and I will up for a half day Wed. if I can drag my butt out of bed after being up all night. We got cheated out of a whole day today as I got called to work to fill in. I may bring my daughter up this weekend.
