I am thinking about taking the family crawfishin at strawberry this weekend or next. Can anyone that has been up there recently tell me if there are still weeds along the shoreline?.

About when do the weeds disappear?

I was up there last year in September and there were no weeds and no crawdads to be found.

Thanks

I don't know why couldn't find them in September last year. We did just fine. Don't go for the weeds, go for the rocks. There are a lot more of them in the rocks.

We was up there a wile back just for the craws and we found then in the clear places next to the weeds not in the weeds....and not in the rocks...

I agree with the rocks. Find a rocky shoreline and toss a trap with chicken in it about 10 feet off. we did that 2 weeks ago and came back 2 and half hours later to about 60 crawdads. Each time we moved it and dropped the trap we would catch some.

or get a can of cat food and open it up a little toss that in the trap, works great!

wet or dry cat food?

A can of Tuna works even better. The best bait is some fish carcasses, or at least some fish heads.

Very cheap to make... about $5 a piece. I posted my design on another website... dunno if its ok to post links like that or not.
