Took (DAV) Daniel Westerfield fishing this morning, I backed the boat in the water and got out to get the boat on shore. Looked behind the boat and a Tigermusky was swimming head out of water coming right at the boat, he swam behind the boat and was about 4 feet away from me knee deep in the water. I grabbed a pole and threw out a rapala and he just ducked down and was gone. What a way to start the morning.. Then within 5 minutes of trolling Daniel hooked into a Tigermusky and got it to the boat quickly, the fish swam right to the boat. Took two pics and back in the water. Took me a hour or two to hook one for me. Lost one when I was talking on phone with the wife and look around me to the pole and it was being hit hard. Dropped phone (sorry dear, Musky had priority over you this time) but not in time. We had a good day and caught a few muskies. Daniel has a list of fish he has never caught and has now crossed off the third one while fishing with me. 1st = Cutthroat, 2nd = Wiper & 3rd = Tigermusky.....

Thanks, now my problem is getting him a Largemouth & Smallmouth Bass. He can't throw out very well and his hands dont move very well either. I dont want to catch the fish and give him the pole. It's not the same. He wants to catch it from start to finish... I need to take him to starvation some day and get him a few walleye.....

wouldnt drop shoting work for him?

That would work for smallmouth but not as good of chance for largemouth unless there were alot of them in the water I was fishing....

Take him to Mantua, drop shot a reaper or roboworm (Baby Bass) that should do the trick for the largemouth. There are quite a few willing smallies at Starvation as well. Hopefully there is some good karma headed your way.

Mantua sounds like a good trip, I have never been there but I will find it and then I am sure we will get some largemouths. thanks. Smallies I can get him in Jordanelle... Mantua sounds like the place to take him... thanks...

I am having a great time taking him out and getting him into some fish he has never caught or even think he would get the chance to. Today was great. When the musky hit his lure right off the bat, he couldn't pull his pole out of the holder. I had to get up and pull it out for him so he could fight his fish... Daniel talks from the second I pick him up, (he was waiting outside again way before my arrival time again this morning) till I drop him off. Never the same story... I buy him breakfast in the morning and feed him again before I drop him off. I told him I dont want his money and he deserves a little free time playing with the fish... Of course I am having fun also.... He just renewed his fishing license for another year so I will be taking him out again soon.. Largemouth at Mantua is next..... I would normally fish alone most of the time but this is alot better and the company is great also..... I Think the fish gods are smiling more on Daniel then me, he kicked my butt at Willard and today he did the same....

i look forward to seeing your reports with Daniel. your AWESOME. the best part is clicking on the pics and seeing that big Smile behind that big beard.

Not to steal your thunder, in the last 2 weeks, i have put 5 people on the biggest fish they have ever caught, so far. it's a good feeling.

thats great that you are taking others out also. Big or small, catching fish and getting out of the house and enjoying life is all that counts. Can't enjoy it if your sitting in a room watching TV. As long as I can continue to take him fishing I will. goodluck and see you on the water....

Congrats on the fish Don! I got your text on Saturday and I must say that you make it really hard to do yard work all day!

You are really turning into a Utah fishing expert!
