[#005000]I am new to Big fish tackle so I thought I would start off with this. I have a picture of a trout that I caught a few years ago that was shaped very odd. My question is, has any one else caught trout that looked like this? If so any ideas on what caused it? Thanks for your ideas and comments.[/#005000]

Looks like he was hangin' out with too many crappie as a young lad.[cool]
I'm sure it is just some kind of genetic abnormality.

[#008000]Are you saying that is a crappie looking trout ?[/#008000]

Wow !!!!! I've never seen anything like that. It does look like a cross between a crappie and a bow. Where did you catch that from and did you keep it and eat it ?

That is one freaky fish! What would you call it? Trappie? Crout? Weird....indeed!

Strange, where did you catch that crapbow?

As a kid I caught a few like this out of Farmington Pond. They had definately been planted and the story I heard was that it was from inbreeding..... Don't know if there is any truth to that but I have seen them like this before.

That is just what happens when a trout actually swallows the fly fishing reel whole. It is amazing what those little trout think they can swallow sometimes. [crazy] I would have kept it and gotten the free reel inside kinda like a box of cereal.[sly][fishon] J/K funny looking fish.

Great pics, we caught a brook trout this year that looked similar. Not sure why they do?

I saw this in last months Trout Unlimited magazine. Its called a Back Woods Arkansas Trout. I believe the genus is Imbreedus alotus [laugh]....that is one funky looking fish.

[#005000]Well, I actually have an uncle that works with BSA at the East Fork of the Bear BSA camp. As a family we usually go up Labor day weekend after the camp is closed for the season. I caught in the uppermost pond. I was sight fishing for it because it swam like a fancy tail gold fish. kinda wobbly. I was wanting to see what kind of fish it was, and what a supprise indeed. My brother called it the exotic trout carp. I didn't eat it, I am actually a fan of catch and release when it comes to trout. Especially odd deformities. Wipers on the other hand are the best tasting fish I have caught out if freshwater.

I think it was tired of being tossed back because it wasn't tasty like a pan fish. So it went to see the plastic sturgeon to have some implants.
