I am fishing with guide Steve Stoner on Thursday but I want to fish other waters on my own after that. Can you tell me how to get to any fishable lakes or rivers we can walk in to in the area?

trust me you will regret every hiring that punk.....Unless he got on some horse traquilizers and smokes grass now.
He knows the lakes well, but its HIS way or NO WAY!!
Better bring yourself some ear plugs. Hes not the guide if you get offended easy!

Sounds like you have fished the area. How about helping the guy out with some suggestions on where he can fish on his own (he is from out of state and totally unfamiliar with the area)?
Thanks,

It's been about 10 years since I fished up there, but we camped and fished at Donkey Res. a few times and would hike around to a few other lakes. Gold Jake's spin-a-lures seem to do quite well up there (especially from a float tube).
Good Luck and Good Fishing!!
It's been quite a few years since I've been there myself. Donkey Lake and Coleman Reservoir are two of the smaller lakes on the lower part of the mountain that are fairly easy to get to. We hauled a canoe up to Coleman one time and really caught a lot of brookies. They were hitting just about everything we threw out there. Just put the bait about 18" below a bubble. My cousin used to have a small store in Lyman where they also made some fast food and pizza (best pizza I've had, wish they hadn't moved out of state). We took a pizza up with us in the canoe. Fishing slowed down a bit ('slowing down' for that trip was a couple of minutes between bites). I got slightly bored so I took a mushroom off the pizza and put it on the hook. Those dang mushrooms outfished all other bait we had used. I caught probably a dozen fish off mushrooms before I ran out.
That had to be one of the funnest trips I have ever been on. Just two of us in a canoe, nobody else at the small lake, and a lot of catching.

Depending on were your camped at Bowns reservoir is a great spot lots of feisty bows to fight with and camping is a stone throws from the reservoir.
That area has many many many lakes just depends were your camped at heres a map click the link above the map for details
