I'll be fishing from the shore at Jordanelle this weekend. I'll be at the Rock Cliff area. This is my first time fishing there so if any of you could give advice on lures and such, me and my son would greatly appreciate it.

Welcome to the site Bub, I can't give you any first hand advise for shore fishing at Rock Cliff but here is a link to a recent report that TubeDude posted with pictures of some folks that were fishing from shore there, hope it helps. [cool][#0000ff]Sometimes you can do well fishing from shore at Rock Cliffs. Always worth a shot.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]If you park at the end of the road, in the parking area, you will need to go past the gate on the perimeter road that runs along the north side of the lake...starting at the restrooms. There are several places where you can work your way down the bank to fish the shoreline. Be careful. The water is dropping and the bank is steep. Up past the first turn in the road you have easier access.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]If you want to fish for trout, you can sling a piece of powerbait out as far as you can throw it. The water is not too deep there now, with the lowering water level. But, early in the morning there are usually some rainbows cruising shallow. They will also respond to a piece of worm. A lot of regulars like to fill a bubble full of water, for distance and sinking, and chuck out either a piece of worm or a fly...with or without a piece of worm on it. [/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]There are often some smallmouth close to shore. They will smack spinners, jigs or crankbaits. But, that can be expensive since there are a lot of brushy stickups just under the surface in some spots. Smallies will also hit plain old crawlers...as will the perch if you can find some. [/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Take a bag to clean up the trash left by other "bank tanglers" and be careful. It is still warm enough that you might encounter a "buzzworm"...rattlesnake. If you have kids or ladies in your group, best not to stray too far from the restroom facilities...and be careful when going down the steep banks.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]When the water level is higher there can be some good fishing in the stickups straight out from the parking area. But, the water is dropping fast and there may not be enough depth there for fishing. If you go early enough in the morning you might find a trout on spinners or fly and bubble close to the ramp.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Good luck and be safe.[/#0000ff]

Thanks all. That was very helpful advice and I really appreciate it. After seeing the picture of that record SMB I am having visions of hooking onto something like that. I'll give the full report when I get back. Thanks again.
