so my girlfriend and I went fishing Mantua yesterday and had a grand time. We caught some bluegills, perch, small bass, and some kind of sunfish. I'm not sure what kind of sunfish it was, because it had kind of a silvery color, and there were black spots on the ends of its' gill plates. I wanted to look really smart for my girlfriend, so I said it was a longear sunfish, but I just wanted to see if anyone knew what it really was[fishin]

Do you have a picture? The only other known sunfish in Mantua is a green sunfish. Have you seen a green sunfish?

A lot of blue gill have a black dot at the end of their gill plate but did it look like any of these:

It was probably the Green Sunfish. We caught a few of them this weekend out of that pond. Did the tips of the fins show any 'orange color'? Bluish streaks along the face face? Larger mouth than a regular Bluegill?

I think that that one picture of the silverish bluegill is what I caught. Thanks for the help!

Both of the last two fish are Green sunfish, the first one is a longear bluegill.
