I recently got a trailer for my 14 foot aluminum boat. it has the dink wheels on it with a set of buddies for greasing. The guy I got it from said he greased the bearings every other time they went somewhere due to they get pretty heated with the tiny tires. I forget the size but I think they are around 10 inch. anyway, I was wondering if it possible or worth it to try to upgrade the wheels and tires to a larger size like a 13inch wheel and tire. what would be involved and how difficult would it be? has anyone ever done this? I have heard of people "lifting" their camp trailers to get better tires on them but can it be done with a boat trailer?

It is possible, although I have only heard of it being done. From what I have read you need to have enough clearance, then you need to find a new rim pattern that will match yours. You might even be able to change the hub so a larger rim will fit. Good luck.

I would try Harbor Freight or your local trailer supply store. I'm sure it can be done.

Contact a marine dealer and see what they say. Usually they deal with all the trailers so would know what you would need to do.

Henderson, located at about 7600? So. and State street. (South of Sportsmans warehouse in Midvale) should be able to help you. I bought an 8 lug axle for my atv trailer there (bearings, hubs, grease, brakes etc. for my boat trailer). They have very competitive prices but more important there customer service is excellent and they know what they are doing.
