Hey all,
I'm headed for the Green River in Wyoming in a couple of weeks, above Fontanelle. I've never fished this section and wondered if any of you have any tips for the end of September.
Thanks

It depends on what you like to do, but chucking streamers catches the largest fish this time of year. There should also be some baetis hatches on certain stretches on the cloudy, less-windy days, if you can hit one. That will be about the only dry fly activity, though you might find a fish or two that will still rise to a hopper or ant.
There's a WHOLE LOT of river between Fontenelle and the headwaters. Like over 100 miles worth. It all has trout, and most of it holds some pretty nice ones.
You should get an access map from the Pinedale Wyo. G&F office. Its clear, accurate, and durable. It clears up where to access the river, where the easements are on private land, and boat launch areas all the way from the head waters to Fontenelle.
Don't expect high numbers, except for very small ones, but expect some quality fish if you put in the time. The big browns eat the plentiful little browns for breakfast!!!

Thanks so much. That is going to be extremely helpful.
