We fished CJ the 10th, 11th, and 12th and the fishing was a little slow for us. Three of us fishing only landed 4 fish in 3 days. Those 4 landed were small around 3 foot range. We lost one big one and it was the only big strugeon we hooked.

We were also there with Steelfisher. We landed 16 of them (compared to 41 in July). Only two were good size (72" and 87"). Sure are a lot of 30 to 40 inchers this year.

If you see this boat at CJ they are probably catching some sturgeon. Even on days with a slow bite they seemed to pick them up while we just watched with envy. This was our first trip so we are still in the learning mode.

Sorry I forgot to attach the picture.

Yeah people on that boat catch fish but it is only because Kent shows us what to do. Kent really does know his way around a sturgeon fishing ground. He caught 8 of the 16 fish on the trip and he was the only reason that Randy and I caught the other 8 between us.

So Kim you are not alone on being a rookie on the sturgeon fishing. Randy and I just happened to be lucky enough to be with Kent on this trip. Last trip we went on we got skunked, so four fish caught and one big one lost, still isn't too bad for your first go around. I am sure your wife had a fun time catching the ones she did.

Great times fishing with everyone.

one thing about the sturgeon you can usually catch one well at least hook one hunt around Crane falls area there is a great hole there hope you find it

I am familiar with that point that you are fishing from in your photo. From my boat, the fish finder shows lots of lava rock on the bottom in that area. How do you keep from constantly snagging in all of those rocks?

I use flat weight but tell you the truth I never been snaged on the bottom the is a cliff if you fish from the bank thats why i use the flat weight so that it planes up more than pyramid but when we take the boat you are good to go huge fish and lots of the never been scunked there and that is the only place I can say that have not always landed them but have always hooked up

there is a ton of poison ivy on the bank there i dont even fish it from the bank any more. is there anymore holes above cj that is good?

Is this your definition of a flat weight?
