Hey everyone. I'm headed up to Fairview this weekend to call some elk and I thought I'd set my crawdad trap at Scofield on my way up and pick it up on my way back. Anyone want to share any tips on a good location for crawdad at Scofield? Any ideas would be great. Thanks in advance!

I've found that about any rocky shoreline at Scofield works about the same. The bigger the rocks the better. I think the crawdads hide in the rocks to get away from the larger trout who also find them tasty. I'd just drive along until I found a spot easily accessible from the road but doesn't look appealing to fisherman. I've had traps disappear.

Thanks for the tip. Warning: If anyone steals my traps I will stand on the shore cursing your existence while making empty threats to you and yours despite knowing that I will eventually have to give in, walk back to my truck, and drive home empty handed with no way to track you down. Just a heads up....

You might want to check the regs. about leaving shiner and mud bug traps traps un-attended.

As far as I can see, it only applies to set lines.
When fishing with a setline, you must be
within 100 yards of the surface or the bank
of water you’re fishing from.
